Sussex / Lashmar wills - Sussex
« on: Sunday 27 November 05 06:25 GMT (UK)  »
I've obtained relevant Lashmar wills via the National Archives Documents Online (I'm from Vancouver, Canada). but would like to obtain wills which may not have been proved via the PCC.  I'm particularly interested in wills for Lashmars in Brighton, Steyning, and Henfield.  My understanding is that I should go through the East or West Sussex Record Offices.

Any suggestions would be welcome.

Thanks!

Sussex / Steyning Parish Registers

I have a record of the marriage of a John Lashmar (Jr.) to a Mary Young  on October 26, 1812 in Steyning.  John appeared to have been baptized on October 26, 1788 at St. Nicholas, Brighton (b. to John & Elizabeth Lashmar) and Mary was born ca 1799 in Sussex.

Unfortunately, there were 2 John & Elizabeth Lashmars married in 1787-88 in Brighton, so I am wondering if there might be any additional information in John & Mary's Steyning marriage entry, such as witnesses, which might clarify John's family.

Many thanks!

Sussex Lookup Requests / Brighton Parish Registers - LASHMAR/MER
« on: Wednesday 15 June 05 13:17 BST (UK)  »
I am looking for the birth/baptism record of a John Lashmar who according to the 1841 Census was born around 1779 in Sussex (likely Brighton).

He may have been the son of John Lashmar/mer and Elizabeth Howell who were both born in Brighton.  The son John Lashmar married Mary Young  on October 26, 1812 in Steyning.  He died in Brighton ca 1851.

Thanks!

I am looking for John Lashmar who died in Brighton ab 1851.  His wife Mary (Young) was still alive at his death.  They were married October 26, 1812 in Steyning.  Children - Thomas Young (b. ca 1813), John Young(b. ca 1813), Eliza (aft 1823), William, George and Mary Ann.

I am also looking for John Young Lashmar who died ca 1856/57/58 and who had operated a windmill.  As of 1855 he was a miller and baker.
