Tipperary / Weather history of Ireland?
« on: Saturday 29 March 08 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
I'm looking for a little bit of help as I try to write my family history.
Not sure if something like this even exists, but does anyone know if there is a book, or a type of database, that has the recorded weather in Ireland from the 1800's??

For instance, I'm wondering what the weather was like during certain days of 1853 and scattered years between 1861-1874 in southern Tipperary.

Hoping someone can point me in the right direction.

Thanking all in advance,
Joe

« on: Monday 03 March 08 13:26 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for any RYAN's or FARRELL's who has roots in Butlerstown, Ballyneale, County Tipperary.

My 2nd great-grandparents were Cornelius Ryan & Mary Farrell married in 1853 in St. Mary's Church in Ballyneale, County Tipperary, Ireland.

They lived in Butlerstown, Ballyneale, County Tipperary (near Carrick-on-Suir) until their deaths in 1904 & 1913.

They had 6 children:
John Ryan  (b. January 1854)
Thomas Ryan  (b. January 1856, d. in Queens, NY)
Patrick Ryan  (b. February 1859)
Michael Ryan  (b. April 1861, d. 1947 in Cranford, New Jersey)
James Ryan  (b. February 1863)
Mary Ryan  (b. December 15, 1865)
Margaret Ryan  (b. February 1868)
Bridget Ryan  (b. February 23, 1870)
Johanna Ryan  (b. August 7, 1872)

I have no info on the children, except Thomas & Michael who went to America.
Looking to connect with any possible descendants of listed children.

Tipperary / Ordnance Survey maps or a Land Record map??
« on: Friday 29 February 08 15:46 GMT (UK)  »
Can someone point me in the right direction?

I'm trying to locate an old Ordnance Survey map for County Tipperary, Ireland....namely the townland of Butlerstown, Ballyneale (near Carrick-on-Suir).
I have some old land records (or an Ordnance Survey) from the early 1900's that specifies a plot number for my ancestors land.   One can be seen here:

I want to find the map that coincides with this record so I can physically locate where my family once lived.

This record states it's O.S. 78 & 84.

Is anyone able to guide me here?
Thanking you in advance,
Joe Ryan
