Lincolnshire / Christ Hospital, Blue Book School, Lincoln
« on: Wednesday 13 September 06 00:51 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I have found one of my relatives, John Binns in the 1861 census as a scholar at the Blue Book School, Christ Hospital, Lincoln.
Can anyone tell me anything about the school please?  There are both boys and girls names on the list of scholars.
Thanks,
DelB

Yorkshire (West Riding) / How to identify areas for death certificat?e
« on: Saturday 26 August 06 04:56 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I am trying to find a death for my GGGrandfather, James Wilkinson who lived in Armley, b. 1775 Armley.
I know he died between 1841 (found him in the census living at Town Gate Armley, Leeds Borough) and 1851 when he is listed as 'deceased' on my G.Grandmother's marriage certificate.
On Free BMD and Yorkshire BMD there are so many James Wilkinsons it is impossible to decide which is the correct one.
Can anyone help in defining the areas I should look for please?  Would Kirkstall be the logical choice?
Hope someone can help.
Cheers, DelB

Australia Lookups completed / Look up request Queensland BMD Barker
« on: Saturday 26 August 06 03:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
Some time ago I was searching for my Grandfather John Wilkinson Barker's arrival in Australia.  No luck with that one so far, but I have found a John Wilkinson Barker born 6 Apr 1886, Maryborough, father William, mother Margaret Quirk.
It seems like too much of a coincidence to have two John Wilkinson Barkers in Queensland so could some kind person look up the following please:

Marriage:  William Barker/Margaret Quirk, around 1878, probably Maryborough.
There were children born between 1878 and 1888 including John Wilkinson Barker, so the names of those would help too, if possible.

It could be an earlier marriage of my Grandfather, or even a relative who called his son after my Grandfather.
Hope someone can help.
Cheers, DelB

Hi everyone,
Could someone please look in the 1841 census for William Barker born Sept 1808, probably Huddersfield, father John.
According to the family bible William is supposed to have died aged 39 which should be in 1847, so he should be around in 1841.
The rest of the family, Father John b. 1788, mother Mary born 1789 are found living in Tofts Grove Rastrick but William is not with them.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
DelB

Have just received my Great-Grandmother's marriage certificate for her marriage in Hull in 1843.  Could I request an 1841 or 1851 census look up for the following please:

Mary Ann Ashton  born abt 1823  Lincoln living in High St. Hull at time of marriage in 1843, father John Rollitt, Joiner

William Ashton  born?  Living in Louth Lincoln at time of marriage in Hull in 1843
Marriage certificate just says 'of full age' for both.

Historical Directories  for Hull 1816/17 have a John Rollitt living in High St. and another living in LowGate.

Would really appreciate a look up in 1841 or 1851 for those too please.
Hope someone can help.

Nottinghamshire Lookup Requests / Look up request for Parish Register - Rollett
« on: Sunday 27 March 05 04:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi everyone,
I have been searching for my Great-grandmother Mary Ann Rollitt for ages.  I know she was born in the first half of 1823 from her Marriage and Death Certificates but still can't find her birth, although from the 1871 census it says Lincoln.

Her Father is John Rollitt and he was born in Navenby Lincolnshire in 1770, and her mother was probably Ann.
On the IGI I found a Mary Ann Rollett Christened at Kirton, Nottingham in 1826, father John and mother Ann and wonder if anyone has access to the Parish Registers if they could give me details of this christening.
John Rollitt is listed on Mary Ann's marriage cetificate as a Joiner and from the directories there is a John Rollitt, Joiner in Nottinghamshire.
Any help greatly appreciated.
Thanks ,DelB
