Hi all clever technical and knowledgable people :D

This is a photo of my Great Grandfather William Satchwell, I have no idea when it was taken  but it looks like it was taken outside. He was an 'Ag Lab' I know that much from the census - but he doesn't look a barrel of laughs does he? :)

He was born in 1857, but apart from this photo and possibly one other I know very little about him.

Any insight much appreciated.

A relative J E Baskott, reg no. 43393 was awarded the Military Medal in 1917, he was a NCO, I have his medal card, but it only tells me he was awarded this medal - I cannot find why? Can you point me in the direction of a good source?

Hi

Forgive me if this is a very silly question, but did soldiers who died in the two world wars get death certificates?

Hi

Fantastic job on the last photo, now for this one - who I only know is someone on my Dad's side of the family.

But isn't it a beautiful dress?

I find it hard to judge the age even, she could be anything from 16 to 46.

Can you help again?

Hello

I'm having trouble posting this photo so fingers crossed....

Anyone have any idea for a date? She looks very young in the photo, but I don't know any decendents of mine who visited/worked in London - where the photo was taken.

It's a mystery ???

One Name Studies: A to G / Baskott - Warwickshire
« on: Monday 24 March 08 17:41 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I am trying to compile information on this family. The name and spelling has changed over the years with the earliest spelling being 'Bascot' (around 1780). There is a Bascote Heath in Warwickshire not far from Marton which is the 'hub' from which all Baskotts today seem to be descended.  I would love to be able to link the name to the place.

Does anyone else have any Baskotts in their tree?

Liz
