New Zealand Completed Requests / Andrews Family - Wellington
« on: Thursday 21 August 08 11:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I posted this message a while back on the WWI board and was told it may be better to post it here, so here goes.....

My Great Aunt, Ellen Irene Torrance, married a New Zealand Serviceman in October 1918.  His name was Edwin Simpson Andrews and I have the information from their marriage certificate that he was a Second Lieutenant N.Z.E.7.  They were married at Brokenhurst Parish Church.  I know there was a convalescence home there particulary for troops from New Zealand and India.  I would like to find out more about Edwin and why he was there.  I have also found some information about him on the Aukland Museum Cenotaph website.  I have been told by an elderly Cousin that they had three children, Joan, Phylis and William and that William (Bill) was a POW in WWII and I would also like to trace these family members. Any help would be gratefully received.

Hi
I am currently using Family Tree Maker Version 6 by Broderbund, which I have had for many years.  I have recently bought a new computer and am looking into buying some new software!  I really like the version I have but wonder if there are any better packages out there.  Do Broderbund to an updated version?  Any help gratefully accepted.

Best wishes

Merionethshire Lookup Requests / 1861 Census Dolgelly
« on: Thursday 15 September 05 21:29 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I have downloaded a copy of a page from the Dolgelly Census of 1861 from Ancestry, listing my Great Great Grandfather and his family.  The reference is RG9\4319.
One of the entries is for his daughter aged 6, they have transcribed her name as Savria.  I don't think this is what is written.  But I can't tell what it is!!  :-\
Is there anyone out there who could have a look for me and see what they come up with ???
Also I am unable to find her again on any of the other census' or details of her birth marriage etc - could this be because Savria isn't her name?
Any help would be great
Many thanks

Merionethshire / Meurig Buildings Dolgelly
« on: Sunday 11 September 05 22:30 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I am hoping that someone might be able to help me!?!  In 1891 (according to the Census) my Great Grandfather and family lived at number 2  Meurig Buildings, Dolgellau.  Does anyone know where this is in relation to streets now.  My brother is travelling up that way in the next few weeks and said that he may go and have a look round and take some photos.  So any help would be really great.
Many thanks

I believe my 2nd Great Grand Uncle was Mayor of St Albans.  His name was William Hurlock and he was born in about 1840.  He was married to a Susan Maples and they had 2 sons, Walter and William.  Does anyone know of where I could find out about when he was Mayor.  Any help would be greatfully appreciated.

Occupation Interests / Master at Arms
« on: Saturday 06 November 04 14:40 GMT (UK)  »
My husband may have found his Great Grandfather.  On the birth certificate of my husbands Grandfather (if it is him!) his Father's occupation is Master at Arms R.N.  Am assuming that the RN stands for Royal Navy (Grandfather was born in Kingswear which is very near Dartmouth - Royal Navy College etc)  Can anyone confirm this and does anyone know what a Master of Arms did?
Ta very much

Have just received in the post a new birth certificate for someone who may be related!!  In the when ane where born section it gives the date and area and then says R.S.D  What does R.S.D. mean?  Am guessing when it says U.D. it means Urban Districtbut am unsure about RSD
