England / Complete - Arthur Young
« on: Thursday 20 September 12 14:37 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Is anyone able to tell me if there is anything in the Probate Calendar for an Arthur Young in Leicestershire (probably Kegworth) about 1938?

Many thanks

Hi Everyone,

If anyone is going to Loughborough Library at any point could you look-up two burials @ Kegworth, St. Andrews for me please. I'm hoping there will be a note of the grave plot number(s).

Arthur Young, age 76, died 10th April 1938
Ethel Ann Young, age 69, died 29th Aug 1951

I have been reliably informed that the registers go up to 1952, and there was a grave plot number found on a previous request for 1939 so I'm reasonably hopeful.

Many thanks,

Leicestershire / Completed - Kegworth, St. Andrews - grave register?
« on: Tuesday 22 May 12 13:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone,

I know that the burial registers for St. Andrews Church @ Kegworth are available at the library in Loughborough, but does anyone know if a Grave register exists for this churchyard, i.e. a listing of who purchased a particular grave, or who is buried in which grave by grave number?

I've obtained a copy of the Chuchyard plan which shows locations of numbered graves but there are very few names actually written on the plan so I wondered if there would be a register perhaps at Loughborough library or the records office @ Leicester?

Anyone know of such a document?

Thanks

Hi Everyone,

I have seen on a passenger list index one Harvey Royds, yob 1875, departure 1896 from Liverpool to Quebec, Canada.

Does anyone know if the passenger lists are available anywhere other than on subscription sites?

Many thanks,

Completed Leicestershire Lookup Requests / Completed - Burials @ Kegworth 1939 + 1945

Hi everyone,

I would like to find where two of my Uncles are buried. Does anyone know if the registers for Kegworth that are held either at Loughborough Library or the Register Office @ Leicester go as far as 1939 and 1945?

I know that they are not buried in Kegworth cemetery which opened in 1936, but they may be in the churchyard of St. Andrews.

Many thanks,

Armed Forces / Looking for Sapper J Emerton
« on: Friday 04 November 11 11:47 GMT (UK)  »
I have a postcard, written in pencil, that was sent to my Grandmother by someone who I think was possibly her cousin Edward Emerton (b. 1882 Hatfield). The postmark is Southampton, 5 Sep, (19)04 - it was a Monday, I checked. She would have been approx. 1 month short of her 16th birthday.

Part of the message says 'leaving Southampton today Monday, Ted'. Below this it says -

Corps Troops
1st Army Corps
Blue Force
on manoeuvers (sic)

In what I think is a different hand, and in red ink, someone has written at the top -

Sapper J Emerton
10919 A something? (possibly Troop) B B R E
Stanhope Lines
Aldershot, Hants

So, in 1904 when the card was written Edward (Ted?) would have been about 22, and although I haven't been able to identify a birth registration for an Edward there is a tantalising James Edward Emerton registered in the 4th Q of 1882 in the Hatfield reg district.

By using what I assume is a regimental number (10919) can anyone help me find out whether Sapper J Emerton and Edward Emerton are the same person? - or am I shooting for the moon?

Thanks in advance, and here's hoping,
Regards, B

« on: Thursday 29 September 11 16:09 BST (UK)  »
Could someone possibly check the UK incoming passenger lists for William Thomas (Thomas Wiliam) Hand and his wife Constance Edith Hand please. I'm pretty sure they are listed but I don't have a current subscription to be able to see the info.

Many thanks, B

Hertfordshire Lookup Requests / Marriage look-up - Flamstead
« on: Friday 16 September 11 12:20 BST (UK)  »
Could someone take a look in the Flamstead parish registers for a marriage between Nathaniel Green & Martha Carrington, 11th Oct, 1792, please.

Any other info i.e. witnesses would be greatly appreciated.

I also have two others, one in 1818 and the other in 1825, but thought it might be a bit greedy to ask for all of them at once. If anyone is willing/able to check these also I will post the details later.

Thanks and regards, B
