Aberdeenshire / John Milne & Jane Cowie
« on: Saturday 23 March 19 16:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anyone have this couple in their tree? Not having much luck on SP.

According to daughter Jane Milne, dies 1877 age 89 (widow of John Smith, then James Shepherd)  her parents are these two. There is a Jane Milne born 1788 Fyvie to a John Milne on SP & I think it is her as she states Fyvie as her birth place on the censuses I can find of her. There appears to be two John Milne at Fyvie during this time as I find the births of 2 boy Milnes about five months apart.
Trying to sort out who is who & get back a little further.
I'm assuming John Milne & Jane Cowie would have been married around 1788, give or take a few years & born around 1765 give or take.
Any guidance would be appreciated.

Thank you in advance,
Lisa

I may have just found death entries for this couple at Fyvie. Jane Cowie, or widow Milne, Horns Croft, age 84, dies 1840.
John Milne, at Banks,age 84, dies 1838.
If this is the correct people it puts their birth years to mid 1750's.

Only one entry for a marriage of a John Milne & Jean Cowie, 1775 Forfar.

Perhaps I should post in Angus/Forfarshire? or is there a way I can link this post to Angus without typing a new post?

Scotland / 2 questions re: born at sea births & visitors deaths
« on: Monday 11 February 19 15:54 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Is there a register for "born at sea" births for the period of 1820-1830? Have an ancestor who states he was born at sea on marriage register & then again on 1861 Scotland census,  born at sea off the coast of Ireland.

Have a great Aunt who was born in Scotland in 1895, emigrated to Canada in the 1920's, died in Scotland while visiting, not sure of year, dates late 1960's to mid 1970's sometime. Best way to go about finding her?

Thank you,
Lisa

Fife / Alan S.R. Murray died Dec 13, 1980 Methil
« on: Saturday 11 December 10 14:51 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I am looking for Alan's children and/or grandchildren. I have Alan's death notice from the Dundee Courier, it does state his wife's name. There is a small chance that she is still living so I won't mention her name here. If anyone on here knows/knew this family please either get in contact with me or pass the message along that their cousins from Canada are trying to contact them.
Thank you for any assistance.
Cordially,
Lisa

Scotland / Moderator help please
« on: Saturday 11 December 10 14:06 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I have the death notice I needed from the Dundee Courier, 1980. There is a mentioning of the wifes name. The wife could still be alive, although she would be a very elderly lady. Am I allowed to mention just her first name in my next post?
Thank you for your assistance.
Cordially,
Lisa

Lanarkshire / James Milne & Mary Flint
« on: Thursday 21 October 10 20:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Is anyone researching this family?

James is the son of William Milne & Emily Mollison of Bervie, Kincardineshire. James' occupation is engine fitter.

Mary is the daughter of Margaret Flint, reputed daughter of John Ferguson.

They were married Sept. 28, 1894 Parish of New Kilpatrick in the county of Dumbarton.

In 1901 they lived at 21 Lumsden St. Glasgow. They had 2 children at the time, Maggie born about 1896 & William born July 27 1898. I don't know if they stayed in Lanarkshire but am hoping so.

Cordially,
Lisa
