Isle of Man / John Hickman Daly
« on: Wednesday 05 August 15 00:21 BST (UK)  »
Hi
John Hickman Daly married Elinor Heywood 1849, Onchan, Douglas.
Her father was Deemster. My connection is with the Daly tree from Carrickfergus/Ennistymon Ireland.  I have lots of information on the Daly side but would appreciate information of children from this marriage as only lately discovered his second  marriage to Elinor Heywood. I have 3 children so far, Charles Valintine, John Joseph and Elinor Harriette.

Hi All,
I'm looking for some guidence as to how to search  for records in Montreal.

My ancestor emigrated from England to Montreal in 1949 and died in 1963.

He lived in the The Town of Mount Royal, Montreal and is buried there. I know his last address and the cemetery he is interred in.

I'm looking for his death notice so if anyone could tell me the name of the local newspaper it would be a great help.
Also, where would his medical records be held, he died in Queen Mary Veteran Hospital, Montreal.

Hi All

I have located my grandfather's army record. He listed his mother as next of kin with the address in 1896 as:

Can any helpful rootschatter tell me where that is - or was?

Down / John Nelson married Jane Carr
« on: Saturday 24 April 10 16:36 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,

I'm trying to trace the ancestors of Samuel Nelson. His parents were
John Nelson and Jane Carr in the district of Annahilt.
Samuel was born in 1868 and married Harriet Lucinda Purdy in 1892. They are on the 1901 census of Scotland with 3 children who were born in Ireland, Richard 7, Samuel 5 and David 10 months.

With the help of rootschaters on the Scotland board I have some leads and was advised to also post on this board.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Lanarkshire / Samuel Nelson + Harriet Lucinda Purdy
« on: Wednesday 21 April 10 16:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi All,
I'm looking  for guidance on where to search next for info on Samuel Nelson's family.

The information I have so far:
Samuel Nelson married Harriet Lucinda Purdy  in Belfast 1892 (I have ordered this marriage cert but no sign of it yet) I have Harriets year of birth 1870 born in Banbridge, Ulster.

1901 census of Scotland I found him age 35,living in Muirhead Street, civil parish of Govan, Lanarkshire, with his wife Harriet age 32, and 3 children, Richard 7, Samuel 5 and David 10 months.  All listed as born in Ulster. Samuel's occupation is listed as 'Miller'

I'm unable to find any record of them returning to Ulster and would appreciate advice on what records to search  in Scotland for them.

Thanks
eileen
