Canada Lookup Request / Quebec Births/Baptisms
« on: Saturday 02 September 23 14:06 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I am the Manager for my late maternal Aunt's DNA test. Complicated story her DNA confirms my maternal Grandfather was not her Father.
DNA has 37% French ethnicity my Aunt was born in February 1941 in Hunstanton Norfolk UK. Her closest DNA match is a second cousin who unfortunately has not responded to messages through MyHeritage or Facebook (luckily has an unusual first name).
I have found her Mother's obit - names daughter and photo matches pictures on Facebook. This led me to her Mother's marriage.
Where can I find Quebec Births/Baptisms online that would give me the parents names the births I am after are in 1950 and 1952.
Thanks
Gary

Ancestral Family Tree DNA Testing / DNA hits through Thrulines vs paper trail
« on: Monday 28 June 21 09:48 BST (UK)  »
Hi
I took an Ancestry DNA test back in March with the aim of breaking down some brick walls.
One of these brick walls is my 3x Gt Grandfather John Mills. I have the birth, marriage and death certificates.
Until recently I was the only match according to Thrulines. I now have one match at 14cM to a potential ancestor being my 5th Gt Grandfather. Their tree is private and they have not replied to my messages.
I have found several public member trees with this potential match and they do have John Mills's but none of the dates match my ancestor. I have built my own tree using the potential ancestor and cannot find a link to my ancestor.

So my question is if DNA proves I am a match to another person how can I prove that their or my tree is possibly wrong?

Armed Forces / Jacob Knight Coldstream Regt of Foot
« on: Saturday 25 August 12 10:34 BST (UK)  »
Hello

I wonder if somebodt may be able to help me?

I have found the attestation paper for Jacob Knight, born in the parish of Waberthwaite near the town of Ravenglass in the County of Cumberland, enlisted Londonderry in the County of Derry on 11/10/1804 aged 22.

"That he hath served the Army for the space of fourteen years and 178 days. Served 11/10/1804 to 06/04/1819. That in the conssequence of having diseased lungs he is herby discharged. That his general conduct has been good dated 15/04/19"

"To prevent any improper use being made of this discharge by its falling into other hands the following description of the said Private Jacob Knight. He is about 37 years".

I have a possible baptism of a daughter Aquila Knight baptised 31/10/1813 Hampton St Mary Richmond Upon Thames Father Jacob Knight Soldier and Mary of Hampton Court. Army baptisms have this Jacob serving in the 11th Regiment.

Where can I find the movements of Coldstream Regt of Foot and the 11th Regiment? Jacob Knight is not listed on the Waterloo Medals as Private Jacob Knight.

Hello

Is anybody out there able to look up a marriage:

Charles Savage and Sarah Theobold 1835 St James Westminster.

Found an entry on Ancestry in Phillmores Marriages but only gives the year.

Thanks
