Hello,

I would like to know if someone can help me with the next topic: we're doing a research about British civilians who were living in Belgium during World War 2 and who were arrested by the Germans and interned in Camp Bourg Leopold and Dongelberg, Belgium.
We've discovered that a certain number of women were arrested and sent to an internment camp at Bourg Leopold (Province of Limburg, Belgium). The ladies were in July 1942 transfered to the internment camp of Chateau Dongelberg (near Louvain, province of Brabant), Belgium.
At least 20 women were transfered to Camp Dongelberg. We haven't find any publication on the topic (internment of British civilians in Belgium during World War 2 or the presence of the civilians in the internment camps of Bourg Leopold or Dongelberg).

Here are a few names (all living in Belgium and arrested):
- Davies Lilian, born 19 May 1895 in Liverpool and living in Brussels
- Jacques Florence, born 30 December 1908 in London and living in Malines
- Lynch Eilleen, born 28 July 1891 in Cashel (Ireland) and living in Brussels
- Marsh Bessy, born 26 April 1912 in Buxton and living in Brussels
- Mulinder Barbara, born 11 December 1925 in South-West Battersea and living in Brussels-Ixelles
- O'Connor Teresa, born 06 September 1911 in Acerington (or Accrington) and living in Brussels-Schaerbeek
- Turpin Hilda, born 03 September 1906 in London and living in Brussels-Etterbeek
- Wood Irene, born 24 May 1906 in Bournemouth and living in Brussels

Concerning the British men; they were also interned in the camp of Bourg Leopold but the Germans transfered them, together with US civilians, to an internment camp in Laufen (Germany).

Thanks in advance and greetings from Belgium

Rutland / Seldon, George Edward of Belton
« on: Friday 17 January 14 14:50 GMT (UK)  »
I'm Belgian, living near Neerwinden, and looking for information on the family "Seldon" of Belton. George Seldon, sergeant in the RAF, was 26 years old when he died in May 1940. His name is mentioned on the Runnymede Memorial. He was a member of the 59 Sqn and crew member of Croydon Chamberlain and Frank Hands.
He was the son of Harry and Kathleen Seldon, of Belton, Rutland. I'm doing together with the cousin of the pilot Croydon Chamberlain a research about what happened that fatal day in May 1940. We've discovered important details. According to our info George Seldon is buried as unknown at Hotton War Cemetery in Belgium.
Regards,
Alex.

Canada Lookup Request / Flying Officer Ayotte John Hector RCAF
« on: Monday 15 February 10 19:59 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm trying to trace F/O John Hector Ayotte, serialnr J45708. I'm doing a research since years about a crash of a Canadian Lancaster (KB-835) from 434 RCAF squadron on the 15 of March 1945. The aircraft came down at Landen (Belgium) not fare away from my home. John Hector Ayotte (called "Hec" by his friends) was the only survivor of this crash. I've his interrogation report and other info about the crash but would like to bring him or someone of his family in touch with the other familymembers. The squadron was stationed at Croft (UK/Yorkshire) in 1945.
I already could trace 3 familymembers of 3 crewmembers who were killed in action that night.
I don't have much information about "Hec", except that he was born after 1911 and that he probably lived in 1996 at Rosemont, Montreal. I don't know if he was a Frenchspeaking Canadian..perhaps because the name "Ayotte" sounds French to me but according to someone who's living in the UK and who knew him he didn't speak French.
Can someone help me with extra info about "Hec"?
Regards and greetings from Belgium

« on: Friday 06 June 08 18:36 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I'm new to this forum and I'm just wondering if anybody could help me to find some information about the next man or his relatives:

Royal Air Force Sgt McGarvey George A. (son of George Edward and Ellen McGarvey), serialnr 969452, killed in action over Belgium on the 7/8 of November 1941.

One of the McGarveys wrote a letter to the Belgian autorities in 1945 and asked them for a picture of the grave of George McGarvey who was at that time buried in the Allied Cemetry of the air base of Saint-Trond, Belgium.
Here is the address (1945) of the family member who asked the picture:

Roy McGarvey
13, Eveleyn Gardens
Cavehill Road
Belfast (Nothern Ireland)

RAF Sgt Mc Garvey George was transfered to the British Military Cemetry of Heverlee (Belgium) after the war.

Can somebody help me?

Thanks and greetings from Belgium

Alex
