Kildare / Richard Connolly
« on: Monday 08 October 18 15:37 BST (UK)  »
Richard Connolly was my great-grandfather who died in the South Dublin Union on 2 December1910. he was pre-deceased by his wife Elizabeth (Bowen). He was aged 76 when he died, which would make his year of birth 1834. My problem is I can only trace his father (William) and family back to a lease on a small-holding in Ovidstown Co. Kildare, which was signed in 1840. The landlord of the property was Nathaniel Barton of Barberstown Castle. Any ideas on how I could trace the family before 1840 and possibly where Richard was born? He would appear to have been 6 years old when the 1840 lease was signed.

United States of America / Seery Family in America & Canada
« on: Thursday 14 June 18 10:32 BST (UK)  »
I would like to contact descendants of Daniel Seery (born in Dublin Ireland) who lived at one time at East Islip on Long Island but passed away some years ago. He was married to an English lady called Agnes (?) who predeceased him. Before retiring he worked for a paint company for many years. I think they had 4/5 children.

Similarly. I would like to contact descendants of Walter Seery (born in Dublin Ireland) who also emigrated to Canada. He lived in Montreal and worked all his working life for a brewery initially as a blacksmith and later did general metalwork and maintenance. He was married to a lady called Corinne (?) and they had four/five children.

Carlow / Knocklinagad (?) Anne Murphy
« on: Wednesday 08 July 15 14:42 BST (UK)  »
Looking for assistance, trying to trace an Anne Murphy who was a midwife from a small village called Knocklinagad (?)  in County Carlow, not  sure of the spelling.  Anne ::) moved to Dublin and married a man called Ellis and lived in Sandymount Dublin. I think they may have been living in Dublin around 1860. Anne and her husband had eight children. My grandmother Elizabeth Mary was born in Dublin in 1851 and married Michael Connolly in July 1878 in the Star of the Sea Church in Sandymount Dublin.

Dublin / Dublin Court Petty Sessions 1880-1910
« on: Monday 04 March 13 08:39 GMT (UK)  »
Is there a site I can access to view Dublin Court Petty sessions records.  This is in relation to an incident that happened in the Strawberry Beds near Lucan in the period 1890-1910.  As this area I would imagine was deemed to be in Co. Dublin, would there have been been a local court in Lucan in that period where these records would have been recorded?  Any assistance would be appreciated.

In 1883 a relation of mine Martin Connolly was evicted from a small-holding in Ovidstown Co. Kildare. family folklore has it that he moved to Mullingar.  But I can't find any trace of him.  Any bright ideas as to how I could trace this man would be much appreciated.

Looking for information on an Edward Connolly who I've been told was one of the founder members of a Dublin Working Mens Club in New York in the 1920s.  He also had a ceilidhe band and broadcast on some of the local networks. He was also a partner in a chewing gum factory which went down the tubes in 1929.

Ireland / Gaiety Theatre Play 1912
« on: Wednesday 01 June 11 16:13 BST (UK)  »
In 1912 a play written by Count Casimir Markievicz (husband of the Countess) was staged in the GaietyTheatre in Dublin. It was titled The Memory of the Dead. I wonder if any theatrical historian could help me with names of the cast.  I know of two, they were the Countess Markievicz who played the daughter to Sean Connolly who played her father, he often acted with the Abbey Players and was shot during the Easter Rising 1916.
