Staffordshire / Thomas BULL, Tamworth or Fazeley
« on: Sunday 06 December 15 20:03 GMT (UK)  »
Hi
Is anyone please able to look up the Staffs trade directories for any years between 1862 and 1868 for Thomas BULL, believed to have been the manager at the gasworks at either Fazeley or Tamworth? He was manager of both these works and I am trying to determine dates of each appointment.  Thanks in anticipation.

Australia / Francis (Francois) Edward RISHWORTH
« on: Friday 10 December 10 10:00 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the following book:
'Pioneering rural Australia, 1860 -1900' by E M Trudgeon & G A Johnston?  I believe it was a standard secondary school history textbook in the 1980-90s.  I understand the book is freely available from public libraries in Australia, not a practical option for me, living in England.

The book contains references to F E Rishworth (pp 76 & 78).   Francis, born in France of English parents, came to NSW in the early 1850s, possibly after a spell in Victoria, and set up business in Sydney as an auctioneer/valuer.

The book will be in copyright so I would not want anyone to breach that, but I would love to have a rough transcription or summary of the information it contains on the Rishworths.

Berkshire Completed Look ups / James DORMER, Reading, Berkshire COMPLETED
« on: Tuesday 05 October 10 17:19 BST (UK)  »
Is any one able to help with a parish register look up, please?

It is for the marriage of James DORMER 1st Quarter 1851 in Reading, Berkshire.  James was born c 1829 Caversham (then in Oxfordshire).  His wife's Christian name was Elizabeth.

I have found the marriage on Ancestry reference Q1 1851 Reading 6.294 but frustratingly it gives no Elizabeths as possible spouses.

They appear on the 1851 census as husband and wife at Soho Street, Reading (HO107/1692/180/42).

Europe / ITALY: Immigrants to UK - RISI family
« on: Tuesday 10 June 08 16:20 BST (UK)  »
Hi
Just joined Rootschat and wondered if anyone else is researching the RISI family from Cassino (Frosinone / Lazio) Italy?  My branch came to UK in 1880s and lived in Glasgow, London, Leeds and Bradford before settling in Hull.  I believe the parents Lorenzo RISI and Geltruda (nee FUSCO) moved to Newcastle upon Tyne in the 1910s and both died there.
