Australia / Coates Family originally from Enniscorthy, Wexford, Ireland
« on: Monday 03 December 12 13:37 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for Coates Family descendants. The Coates came originally from Enniscorthy, Co Wexford Ireland and prior to that from Cork, Ireland. James Julian Coates, Isaac Julian Coates and Edward Coates.  Isaac Coates ended up in Cooktown, Qld. and died there age 60. He was a grazier on a property at McIvor River. James Julian Coates moved around quite a bit, known to have children with wife Emily Josephine Booth, a son Julian James Coates born in Victoria and a daughter Clara G Coates born near Hill End NSW. Don't have any information on Edward Coates at all.
ARE YOU THEIR DESCENDANTS?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Coates families

Looking for a family by the name of Coates in NZ have no idea where to start. Just know James Julian Coates married Emily Josephine Booth in 1870 in New Zealand. The marriage was performed at the brides home and conducted by the Reverned D Bruce.

I am the great, great grand/daughter of Daniel M Coates, (Senior) of Kilgibbon House, Enniscorthy, Wexford, Ireland the father of the above James Julian Coates. James Julian had other siblings, Eilzabeth, Michael and Daniel. On searching the NZ birth, deaths and marriages I also found a marriage between Julian James Coates and Emma Matilda Heap in 1894. I am assuming that this is perhaps the son of James Julian. If anyone recognises these people please contact me. Many thanks

Looking for information on a Daniel Coates who leased a property in the parish of Clonmore, in the Townland of Kilgibbon, in the Barony of Shelmaliere West. He is listed as head of household age 56, farmer/not married  on the 1901 Census. His sister Elizabeth Coates age 50 is living there also. Any information would be appreciated. Also listed as living here were Edward Cahill (67) servant), Thomas Brown (32) servant) and Ann Toole (40)servant.

Job Wilson born Cambridgeshire around 1788/89 .

The Wilson family have researched Job's life in Australia from the time of his arrival in 1812 on the Guildford to Port Jackson (Sydney). until his death on 14/8/1867 in North Richmond, NSW, and would like to find out something about where he came from in Cambridgeshire. All we know is that he stood trial on 13th march 1811 at the Essex Lent Assizes (Chelmsford)  for burglary of a straight coat valued at 5 shillings from the shop of Ralph Bullock, St Giles Parish, Colchester, Essex, sentenced to death (which was changed to transportation for life to Australia). Job was a Sawyer by trade. His religion was C of E.

Any suggestions would be most welcome. Regards

Where could I get information and details of a conviction at the Essex Lent Assizes for 13th March 1811. I'm trying to trace a Job Wilson who was transported to Sydney, Australia  on the ship "Guildford" on 3rd September, 1811. I'm hoping to find where he came from- all I know is Cambridgeshire at this stage. He was born around 1788/89.
