United States of America / Marriage in Philadelphia look up
« on: Thursday 19 March 20 15:27 GMT (UK)  »
Mary Jane Kinkaid married James Robinson in Philadelphia 1895. I can see from the newspaper that the marriage licence was ordered April 1895. Also, the address given was 5814 Knox Street for both. As I cannot see the certificate online it does give the licence number 75905 and Digital GSU number 4141874 in Ancestry.
Mary Jane Robinson, nee Kinkaid died 18th March 1961 giving David as the father and mother unknown. I believe David is an error and would like to get the marriage certificate to confirm this. It is impossible for me to get the marriage cert as I don't live in America. They require and stamped address envelope with $40. It is not the money that is causing the problem, but getting the correct stamps for the envelope. I can only purchase UK stamps.
It is possible for someone to be able to go to the reading rooms and look up the marriage and let me know the parents names?
I wish that Philadelphia had an online system that would allow me to purchase the cert and send by email. I have been able to do this from New Zealand.
Any any information is very much appreciated.

I am looking for information for John Leonard and Ellen Hughes. They married 1916 and their son Patrick was born 1918. Did they have a daughter Mary or Maureen Josephine Leonard and Kathleen T Leonard?
I would like to know how many children they had. Ellen Leonard died 1929 and John died 1960.

Antrim / View certs
« on: Sunday 31 March 19 14:42 BST (UK)  »
Looking for information about births, marriage and death certs. Is it possible to go to Belfast and view these certs or must you order online or over the phone. I was hoping that you would be able to see the certs before buying so you know that you have the correct one. As it is for the family tree, do you get copies at a reduced price. As I need a few dating from 1924, I don't want to have to pay £15 each.

Lanarkshire / Thomas Clarke b. 1870 Raphoe Donegal
« on: Friday 08 March 19 20:21 GMT (UK)  »
Looking for some help for Thomas Clarke. He was born in Milltown Raphoe Donegal in 1870. His parents were Alexander Clarke and Frances Spence. She was known as Fanny.
Thomas was not in Donegal in 1901. Thomas married and had two sons and one daughter. I can't find a marriage in Ireland or Scotland for him. I have looked at the Scottish census to see if I could find something there, but nothing to say it is him. He may have died in 1935, but I cannot be sure that information is correct. He may have been living in the Maryhill area.
As I don't have a spouse, I cannot look for children. I did try and opened a couple of birth certs to find they were completely wrong.
Thomas was one of six children and I have completed the others.

Lanarkshire / Hamilton from Donegal living in Old Monkland Scotland
« on: Monday 16 April 18 15:03 BST (UK)  »
I know that Thomas, James and Sarah Hamilton born, possibly in Donegal, went to Scotland. I think they married in Donegal and then moved. Their parents were William Hamilton and Mary McIntyre or McTear. I have the information on the above, who they married and children. What I would like to know if William and Mary had any other children living in either Ayrshire or Lanarkshire. I would think there could be Partick and William. Possibly Elizabeth as well.

Canada / Andrew Scott
« on: Friday 19 June 15 16:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello
I looking for information for Andrew Scott born in Donegal 1879 and emigrated to Canada. I think he left around 1909 but I do know he returned again for a visit 1921 and went back to Canada 1922. He was a Clergyman. He was a Canadian citizen by then. He returned to Donegal for  a visit in 1948 and 1954, maybe there were other times and I have not found them. I don't think that he was married.
What I would like to know is where in Canada did he preach? I searched for his death and to date, I cannot find it.

Ireland / Rootsireland
« on: Wednesday 20 May 15 11:13 BST (UK)  »
I was thinking about taking one month subscription with Rootsireland but was not sure of how many transcripts you can access. Also, it is only for one month as that is all I want! I do prefer the actual cert but I don't mind some transcripts as it is instant and helps to find information quickly.
