Kildare / Maher family Fair View Cottages, Kildare.
« on: Tuesday 25 April 23 12:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,
I'm trying to find out where someone who died in Fairview Cottages in Kildare would have been buried. Her name is Bridget Maher nee Kelly and she died aged 63 years on 22 April 1937. Her husband was Patrick Maher b 2 Jan 1864 and died about 1945/6. I have a receipt from the funeral director which is dated Feb 1946 but no other details. I think he may have gone into a home of some sort.
My friend is going to Ireland in a few weeks and would like to sprinkle some of her sister's ashes in the graveyard where her grandparents were buried.
If anyone can help I would be so grateful.
Diane

Essex / White Lodge, Walton on the Naze
« on: Sunday 14 February 16 17:04 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, Happy Valentines day everyone! Can anyone tell me about White Lodge, Walton on the Naze in 1908. I am looking for the death between 1901 and 1911 of James Williams born "on board ship Bombay India" in 1856. His wife was Agnes Marion Williams nee Ormes, she is a widow in 1911. She was living in Barnet, but I can't find a death for James in Barnet. Does anyone think he could have been in a nursing home called White Lodge in Walton on the Naze. I have found a probate entry for James Williams and his widow Agnes Marion after his death 28 Feb 1908. Thanks very much for your help guys, as always.

Armed Forces / Henry Royffe buried at Haslar.
« on: Friday 25 April 14 08:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I recently joined Deceased Online and am finding it a very useful tool.  :)

I have an ancestor, Henry Royffe, b 1835 in Bethnal Green, Middlesex. He joined the Navy in 1855, where aged 19 he was an Ordinary seaman 2nd class training as an artificer or engineer on board HMS Fisgard.

He served his 10 years and in 1865 he re-joined and was on HMS Victory in June 1865. I found this info on the National Archives website and downloaded both his service records.

By 7 Oct 1865 he was dead and buried in Haslar but there is nothing about his death on his service record. It is very clear that he was buried at Haslar on the record of burial I found on Deceased Online.

Having looked at the Haslar Heritage site I read that the Haslar burial ground closed in 1859 so would this mean he was buried in nearby Clayhall?

My next 2 questions are, firstly I can't find a death registration for him on Ancestry which made me wonder if he died abroad. Secondly How can I get further information about his death and subsequent burial at Haslar/Clayhall.

Please help me if you can!

Lanarkshire / Please help me find Granny Tree in 1911??
« on: Thursday 05 September 13 15:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi, my husband's Granny (known as Granny Tree because she was tall  :D) was Ethel LANGLEY reg/born in Clutton, Somerset Jul-Aug-Sep 1889 to Methodist minister and coal miner Benjamin Harry LANGLEY and his wife Alice Martha. I have her in Radstock, Somerset in 1891 and in Hanley, Staffordshire in 1901 with the family but cannot find her again until 1913 when she marries Catholic fire clay miner William KELLY in July 1913 in New Monkland, Airdrie, Lanark, Scotland. By October 1913 she has given birth to her oldest child Christopher.

I have also posted this on the Somerset page.

If anyone can help me find Ethel I would be most grateful.  :)

Occupation Interests / Engineer or stationer
« on: Thursday 13 June 13 21:02 BST (UK)  »
My great grandfather, Joseph Henry Cox, did change his jobs frequently so often it's been difficult to track him down. My query is that on his marriage to Mary Elizabeth McGregor in Caterham, Surrey in 1866 he is described as an engineer, but just a few years later in 1871 he is described as a stationer. Now Joseph's father in law was a station master and I wondered if there was just a chance the occupation 'stationer' could refer to the railways instead of just the usual seller of paper goods.  Any ideas would be gratefully received, many thanks

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Please can you date this one too?
« on: Tuesday 11 June 13 08:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi again, I have a photo of the other lady of the pair I am trying to date. Harriet and Margaret were first and second wives of Henry Ellis of Maidenhead and I don't know which is which. I suspect the previous post is the first wife and this is the second. Please can you date this photo? Also do you know anything about Marrett & Co of Market St, Maidenhead, possibly later to be Northwick Studios??

Many thanks for helping with this conundrum
