England / When did widower John Middleton remarry after wife's murder.
« on: Sunday 12 July 15 03:10 BST (UK)  »
John Middleton's wife Alice Hilda Middleton nee Durrant (my 2xgreatUncle's daughter) was murdered my Cecil Maltby in 1922 (official record has 1923 when her body was found). Finding a great deal of information on this I wanted to fellow John's progress after her murder. He died in 1943 and buried Southend-on-sea (Sutton Road). He had a career in the Merchant Navy and married a Gertrude Kathe. I can't find when/where they married not helped by not knowing Gertrude's maiden name. Any possible matches end as they all have my John Middleton with a middle named which this John did not have.
Any fellow ups would be appreciated.

Hi everyone
I ordered two Wills back on the 15 Dec.  I got an email on  the 27 Dec saying my order has been delivered. I logged onto the site and in My Wills-2 items show and the details are what I ordered so I thought great.
However I can't work out how to download them Or do I have to wait for them to do something else. Their Help page says nothing about how to download.  ???
Help :)

Thanks Tracey

Hello all
I am trying to work out who this ancestor could be. I only have the glass part of the photo, no case or backing. I assume that it came out to New Zealand with one of my ancestors from England, of which if so would be 1874 or 1875. I think she looks in or 40s or 50s, however someone may be able to get closer to the mark.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

New Zealand Completed Requests / 1905 drowning of Charles McDonald COMPLETED
« on: Saturday 15 March 14 02:17 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
2xgreat Uncle Charles Christopher McDonald drowned in Island Bay, Wellington 29 Oct 1905. I have newspaper reports, funeral notices and have visited his gravestone, however, when I went to located his death certificate I only came up with a Charles Somerville McDonald, the same year and same age at Charles. Question I have is does there need to be a body for a NZ Death Cert to be issued. I have been unable to locate any reports that Charles's body was ever recovered.
Much appreciated

My Great Uncle Albert Rowland Durrant owned Sinapis, winner of the 1913 NZ Galloping Cup in Christchurch. This year is the 100th anniversary of that win. I would love to locate a picture of Sinapis and perhaps Albert. He died of influenza in 1918 after visiting the races in Christchurch.
Any help would be most appreciated.

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Photo for dating please
« on: Sunday 22 July 12 04:17 BST (UK)  »
Any ideas on a date for this photo. Could be one of two Great Aunts, birthdates 1879 & 1880 of course depending on the date! Also the fact it was taken in Belfast is a mystery. I have no connections to Ireland for this side of the family.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have a rather batted photo: paper on cardboard. From the back of the card I know it is an ancestor but not sure if Dowsett (from Kilsby/Longbuckby, Northamptonshire) or Durrant (from Mayfield, Sussex). Not sure how how it came out to New Zealand.
Any ideas would be appreciated.  :)
Thank You
