Family History Beginners Board / copying a topic to a second county board
« on: Monday 02 February 15 11:48 GMT (UK)  »
I started a topic in Berkshire, but now find the family have connections to the West Bromwich area.
Is it possible to copy the topic and replies to a second board?

The Topic was "Caleb Dodson and Eliza Coster"

Staffordshire completed Look up Requests / Caleb Dodson and Eliza Coster
« on: Friday 30 January 15 15:14 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for the deaths of Caleb Dodson, born 1829 in Brinkworth, Wiltshire, and his first wife Eliza Coster, born in the same place in 1837. They married in 1857. In 1871 they were living in Reading.

Eliza died between 1871 and 1881. The 1881 Census records Caleb as a widower, still living in Reading. He remarried in 1884. In the 1911 Census he was aged 83.

I can find no record of the deaths of either Eliza or Caleb. Can anyone help please?

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Florence Lancaster in 1911
« on: Wednesday 12 December 12 15:38 GMT (UK)  »
I am looking for Florence Lancaster in the 1911 Census.

She was born in 1890 and in 1908 gave birth to a son, Harold Norman Lancaster. She wasn't married, and in the 1911 Census the child is with her parents, Joseph and Louisa Lancaster in Stetchworth, Cambs.

I am putting this message on the Suffolk board because on 24 April 1912, still not married, she gave birth to a daughter Peggy, in Bury St. Edmunds. I believe the father was Charles James Rush, but in the 1911 Census, about three months before Florence would have become pregnant, he was in Bury but I don't know where she was.  Can anyone help please?

Thanks,
Molly

Cornwall / NANCARROW family Cornwall/London
« on: Sunday 06 March 11 10:07 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to unravel the Nancarrow family who originated in Cornwall but migrated to London.

In 1851 Census, Grace Nancarrow, 40, single but with a daughter Jessy, 8. (Ancestry transcribed as Kancarrow!)

Jessy/Jessie gave birth to daughter Grace in St Pancras Workhouse in 1868. No record of the father.

In 1881 William and Jessie Nancarrow are living as man and wife in Poplar Place, St Pancras. William was 43, and gives his birthplace as D.K. Cornwall, whatever that means. They have four children, including Grace age 13, plus a boarder Grace Laurence, age 78, a widow born in Truro.

Does anyone know who William was? Were they married? His name is Nancarrow so was he a cousin? Also was Grace Laurence really Jessie's mother? I can find no record of her marriage to a Mr Laurence.

I'm confused (not for the first time, I have to say)
Any help much appreciated

They baptised a son William Albert in Bungay in 1863, and by 1881, William is a widower, living in Islington with William Albert and four other children. I can find no record of the marriage, can anyone help please?

Thanks,

Australia / William COATSWORTH
« on: Thursday 09 September 10 09:57 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have any information on William Coatsworth (possible spellings Cocksworth, Cortsworth or Colesworth) born in Kent around 1772 and transported for life on the Calcutta in 1802/3/4?

I have found his details in Marjory Tipping's wonderful book "Convicts Unbound" in the British Library, but no record is found of him after the 1811 Muster of convicts in Hobart Town.

Did he die, marry or have children? Or did he get back to England? Does anyone in Tasmania have the surname Coatsworth today?

My grandmother was a Coatsworth and I'd love to find out more about this man.
