Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / MY MATERNAL GRANDMOTHER Norah Honeywood
« on: Saturday 29 October 16 05:30 BST (UK)  »
Hello  :)

I am wondering if anyone is able to restore this pic for me.  I would love to be able to give it to my Mum who is 80 years.  She would be tickled pink to have a beautiful picture of her mother who passed away.

My Mum married and moved to Australia when she was 18 and only was able to visit her mother in the UK once before she died.  I would love to be able to give this to her as a surprise gift as it is a very very special to her.

Hoping someone would kindly help and appreciate it very very much.

Cheers

Australia / Looking for wife of John McLAUCHLAN or McLACHLAN
« on: Tuesday 01 March 16 23:16 GMT (UK)  »
Hi :)

I have a John McLauchlan born 2 Oct 1873, Millport, Bute, Scotland.  John came to Australia with his parents John and Hannah McLauchlan (nee Robson) and siblings in 1883.

John died on 28 May 1961 at Sangate, Brisbane and lived in Brisbane.

John got married, I don't know when, and I do not know to who.  (All I have is their pic).  They also had a child Hannah, which I can't find anywhere.

Is anyone able to find out who his wife was.  I know they did divorce but that is all I know re the above.

Cheers and thanks!

Hi :)

Is someone able to restore this pic for me?  And also is anyone able to provide the approximate date in this picture (taken in Australia).  I am thinking early 1900s but could be later.  The approx date for this pic also determines whether my Dad has the right people.  I am doing this for him.

Thanks

Australia / Photo of Headstone Tenterfield Cemetery
« on: Thursday 30 January 14 00:49 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Is there anyone that may be able to take a pic of a headstone for me in the Tenterfield Cemetery, NSW?

The person I am after is

WALTER JOHN (JACK) BURTON died 16 August 1958.

He is buried at Lot 53 Church of England.

I am unsure though whether there is in fact a headstone.

If anyone could help, it would be much appreciated.

Cheers

« on: Thursday 30 January 14 00:40 GMT (UK)  »
I have a 1901 census of an ancestor and do not know what "Gooddaur" and "Goodson" means.  Can someone please enlighten me?

Does it mean God daughter or DIL or something else entirely?

Will help heaps if I know the particular relationship.

Thanks to any replies.

Australia / BURTON Eileen Grace second wife of Walter John Burton
« on: Tuesday 24 December 13 07:09 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

I am trying to find the death and burial place of EILEEN GRACE BURTON nee BARTLETT.  Eileen married Walter John Burton in 1943 in Tenterfield, New South Wales (second marriage for Walter).

I have found the burial for Walter (he died in 1958) but Eileen I have tracked down in the 1968 electrol records as living at Subdistrict Carfiff District Hunter, NSW.

In the 1968 electoral roll, Eileen is living a Judith Louise Burton and I am yet unable to find out who she is also.

Is anyone able to shed any light?

Cheers

World War One / WW1 - Charles McLachlan
« on: Thursday 14 November 13 01:26 GMT (UK)  »
Hi all,

Is anyone able to help shed some more light on this particular fellow.

Charles McLachlan born West Kilbride in 1864.

I have found his Soldier No. 202772 - King's Own Scottish Boarders buried at Oulchy-Le Chateau Churchyard Extension.  Died on 29 July 1918.

Up to what age were men enlisted for World War 1?

I am unable to confirm whether he is in fact my great grand Uncle.

Cheers

Ayrshire / McLauchlan - pauper or buried together?
« on: Thursday 07 March 13 02:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hi All,

I have a Michael McLauchlan and Agnes McLauchlan in the 1841 census. (Def ancestors).  Michael was born approx 1791 in Ireland as was Agnes (her parents Patrick and Catherine McArthur).

Now in the 1851 I cannot find Michael but Agnes and some of her children are there, so I am assuming Michael died between 1841 and 1851.  I have tried to find his death, but still have not been able to do so.

I have found D/Cert for Agnes for 1 June 1866.

Now what I am wanting to know is, if I can't find his but can find hers, would she possibly be buried with her husband somewhere, or since he died before her, would he possibly be buried as a pauper and be buried elsewhere.

In the 1851 census, Agnes is listed as pauper so I am assuming that she was not financially able to bury her husband properly.

I am at a stump with his death.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Cheers
