Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / discolouration of Laura with Dad
« on: Saturday 31 August 19 21:59 BST (UK)  »
Can anyone improve the discolouration on the left of this photo. It is of myself and my late father. I had multiple surgeries as a child and was often in plaster casts as in this picture. It looks like they have tried to protect the cast by wrapping it in some kind of blue material. There certainly weren't any cast protectors like you get nowadays. Thanks for any help

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / remove crease please

My 89 year old batchelor great uncle has just stunned the family by admitting to having " secret" children under difficult circumstances he has kept this between himself his best friend and the now deceased mother of the children and I I guess only my delving into family archives and taking a chance on asking him if he knew who was in this photo which he had kept all this time made him decide to divulge his secret rather than taking it to the grave. He is now going to have the photo framed and displayed.
 Thanks Laura

Help with dating of this family group please. I have a box of old photos that I am struggling to identify as they are from different lines of my family tree. I am hoping that this picture may be of a particular set of great grandparents with 4 of their children.
If it was and presuming the eldest boy in photo was their eldest child then he would have been born in 1895 and the baby on the mothers knee in 1901. I have no idea if this photo would fit these dates. I have a picture of my great grandmother with her youngest child a daughter(my grandmother) after 5 sons  which I will also post this  has been definitely identified as her by the eldest surviving family member but unfortunately I did not have the other group photo with me when I visited and am not sure if I will get the chance to visit her again.
I think there is a similarity especially round the mouth  with the mother in the earlier picture what do you think ?The photo with the baby girl was taken late 1906 many thanks for any thoughts Laura

The Common Room / Occupation ?
« on: Thursday 04 December 08 17:32 GMT (UK)  »
The occupation for James Boskill in this 1871 Glasgow Govan census is transcribed on ancetry.com as Rain Maker Finisher. Having looked at the original I can't come up with anything different, anyone any ideas as to what this was ?
