Lancashire / Binns - Colne and Bury
« on: Thursday 11 December 14 02:08 GMT (UK)  »
I need help finding out what happened to David Binns after 1881.

He was born in Colne, Lancashire in 1845.  His parents were James Binns (1821) and Susannah/Susan Pickles (1824). The family moved from Colne to Bury between 1851 and 1854.  He married Elizabeth Ann Turner in Bury in 1866.  I can find him on every census up to and including 1881.  In 1881 he was at 8 Charles Street, Bury.  He was a spindle maker.  After 1881 I can find no trace of him or his wife.

Any ideas?

Thanks,

London and Middlesex / What happened to Annie Adams/Denstone?
« on: Monday 20 January 14 16:40 GMT (UK)  »
On 1881 census George Edward Adams (transcribed incorrectly as T E Adams) is living at Kremlin Avenue, West Derby (near Liverpool).  His wife is Annie Adams.  They have a daughter Annie L Adams. George's sister-in-law, Ada Denstone, is also staying with them.  From this I assume that Annie's maiden name was Denstone and I have found her family on 1861 and 1871 censuses in Broseley, Shropshire.  George was also from Broseley.  I have, however, been unable to find a marriage certificate for George and Annie.  This seems unusual for that time period.

On 1891 census, George is living at 39 Crowndale Road, St. Pancras, London.  His wife is Ada Adams.  He married Ada Denstone on 7 December, 1889.  I assume this is Annie's sister.  The name and occupation of her father on the marriage certificate (John Denstone, a potter) seems to confirm this.

George's daughter (Annie Louisa Adams) from his 'marriage' to Annie  died in Tottenham in 1887.  I have no idea what happened to his wife, Annie.  I can't find a death for Annie/Ann Denstone, so I assume that she must have either married or died using the name Adams.

The odd thing is that Ada Denstone was born in Broseley Shropshire, but on 1891 census onwards she gives her place of birth as London.  I wonder why this is.

Unfortunately, Annie Adams is a fairly common name and it is hard to track down when she died.  The family were in West Derby in 1881 and in Tottenham in 1887.  They could have been anywhere between those dates.  There is an Annie Adams that died in Brentford in June quarter of 1887, but I would have to order the death certificate to be sure, and it might not be the right person.

Has anyone any ideas?  Am I overlooking something?

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) / Creaser - Wintringham MIs or burial records
« on: Tuesday 12 February 13 14:45 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

Does anyone have MIs or burial records for the churchyard at Wintringham?  I am interested in the name 'Creaser.'  The family lived in Wintringham in the early 1800s.  I believe Philip Creaser died in 1849, but I am interested in all records in Wintringham for the Creaser family. Any help would be much appreciated

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / Hedon Road Cemetery, Hull - Dickson
« on: Wednesday 09 January 13 19:09 GMT (UK)  »
If anyone happens to be going to Hedon Road (Old) Cemetery in Hull, I would be really grateful if they would look for the grave of Martha Dickson - Compartment 79, grave 79.  Died 21 January, 1884.  I would like to know if there is a headstone and what it says.  A photograph would be an added bonus.
Many thanks

Lancashire / 1871 Census David Murphy
« on: Friday 09 November 12 16:29 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone help figure out this occupation from 1871 census for David Murphy, born in Manchester in 1848, residing at 22 Crown Street, Hulme, Manchester?

Sorry, I can't figure out how to attach the document.  Perhaps someone would take a look at the original census and see if they can decipher the occupation for me.  RG10, Piece 4003, Folio 8, Page 8

Thanks
