Wicklow / Parkmore, Co. Wicklow.
« on: Wednesday 10 November 10 00:25 GMT (UK)  »
I have found information that my gg grandfather - Mr. Philip Kinsella of 10 Wentworth Place in Dublin 2 - lived there in 1901.  On the 1901 census it mentions his wife Elizabeth who is from Parkmore, Co. Wicklow Age 66.

I am trying to find a marriage for them so that I can find her maiden name and continue the search in Co. Wicklow.  Can anybody give me any information on Parkmore, if the church there is RC or CofI and if there is any way that I can trace Elizabeth without having a maiden name here.

Kilkenny / CALLAN, CO. KILKENNY
« on: Thursday 14 January 10 12:36 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everybody.  Happy New Year and thanks for all your help in the past but I'm back again!  I have traced my gg grandfather - Edmund Murphy - to Mill Street in Callan in c1852.  I have discovered that he was a baker in Mill Street in Callan at that time.  There are family stories that he/his family owned a mill and a forge in Callan but so far I haven't been able to confirm this.  Would anybody have any history on these or photos of the area - I am unable to get there to look.

Thanks again. :)

Dublin / address lookups please
« on: Saturday 28 November 09 19:00 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone.

I was wondering could anybody look up the 1851 census extracts to find me an Andrew Kinsella who should have a son named Philip who would be about 15 at that time.  I'm trying to find his wifes name and any other siblings for Philip and an address.  They are most likely around the South Lotts Road area or in the parish of St. Marks or St. Andrews.  Sorry I can't narrow that one down any further.

Also if I could have some Thoms lookups in 1848 and 1863 for the following two addresses:

1 South Lotts Road, Dublin 4 and
105 Townsend Street, Dublin 2.

Thank you very much for your help.

Kilkenny / MURPHY Family, Callan, Kilkenny
« on: Friday 20 November 09 00:16 GMT (UK)  »
I have found (on a website) a family grave in St. Marys Graveyard, Callan, Kilkenny which has unearthed more information for me.

It says "erected by Michael Murphy in memory of his father Edward Murphy died 1902 aged 75 years.  His mother Catherine Murphy died 1897 aged 70 years.  Also his sisters Catherine Murphy d. 19/2/1883 aged 20 years and Mary Murphy died 15/4/1922 aged 65 years".

This answers lots of questions for me as to Michael Murphy's (my ggrandfather) sisters names and a rough estimate of their birth.  I have been told that he had two brothers also called Stephen and John.

I have searched on the LDS and IFHS but am not finding a marriage certificate for Edward and Catherine Murphy nee Woods or any of the children.  If somebody could be kind enough to see can they find them for me I would be very grateful.

I think I have found Mary Murphy on the 1911 census in 53 Mill Street Callan but the age on the census says 50 but on the headstone says she was 65 when she died in 1922!!

Thank you for any help you can give me.

Dublin / PHILIP KINSELLA
« on: Thursday 22 October 09 11:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi I wonder can anybody help with finding a marriage.  Philip Kinsella b c1836 Dublin who married Eliza Norton.  I have a birth cert of a child for them 11/12/1872 dau. Mary.  However, I am having trouble finding a marriage.  I would also be grateful if anyone finds a marriage for this Philip Kinsella to anyone else as he was apparently married twice. He was in 19 Hanover Street in 1872 and in Wentworth Place on the 1911 census.  I haven't been able to find him on the 1901 census.  I was also told that he owned a row of cottages near Hanover Quay called Kinsellas Cottages and they are in a Thoms Directory but I don't know which one.    If anyone can point me in the right direction - I have also found another child for this marriage called Rosanna - the Kinsella was misspelt as KinShella.  Thank you.

Kilkenny / WOODS, Catherine - Paulstown, Kilkenny
« on: Thursday 01 October 09 22:31 BST (UK)  »
Hi I wonder can anyone help me with the following:

Catherine Woods   b.?18/5/1845

Had child Michael Murphy b. 30/5/1866 Callan, Kilkenny.

Catherine appears to have married William Kinsella of Paulstown on 18/21867

and then subsequently had a child John Kinsella b. 26/12/1867.

Michael Murphy is my g.grandfather.  I had been searching for his siblings under the name of Murphy but this appears now to be incorrect as it appears they should come under the name of Kinsella.

It is possible he had brothers John, Stephen and maybe Philip and a sister Mary who we think married a Thomas Ryan.  The Ryan family lived at Moanmore near Mullinahone.  Family lore says that his brothers went to America where one worked on the Pacific Railways and the other married a Senator.

If there is anybody who could shed some light on this by look ups or any other information for me I would be really grateful.

Many thanks.

Shropshire / Tovyman ? RAF Shrewsbury c1922
« on: Saturday 29 November 08 18:39 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I'm wondering can anybody help me with further information on the following details:

I have  unearthed a photo of an RAF guy with the title "L.A.C. Tovyman"  I think this is the surname.  The full details on the photo are:  L.A.C. Tovyman, Hut 19, No. 1 Section, M.F.R.D (I think this is right), RAF, Shrewsbury, England.  The photo I think was taken around 1922 possibly in Dublin, Ireland and I would love to find out more above the man.

I would appreciate if someone could explain all the initials to me and if I have the correct surname.  He was always referred to as Tovy.

Thank you.
