Hi

If anyone has access to the burial records for Preston cemetary, could they please lookup Jonathan Thomas Bowles died 22 March 1921. I’ve found his  first wife Clara Bowles, and second wife Mary Elizabeth In separate plots, but he doesn’t seem to be buried with either?

Thanks

Midlothian / Louden Paterson of Liberton
« on: Sunday 17 February 19 20:44 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I’m quite new to my Scottish ancestors and have identified Louden Paterson bn 1792 in Liberton, who later moves to St Cuthberts by 1851.

As far as I can see, his parents were Louden Paterson and Joan Smith, although she is transcribed as Johan.

Does anyone have access to any records for around this time? I’ve looked on Scotland people and found Louden 1792, but not much else.

Any direction would be welcomed 😁

Australia / Lookup request - Albert BOWLES
« on: Sunday 27 July 14 18:46 BST (UK)  »
Hi

I have an Albert Wiseman Bowles born in North Shields/Tynemouth , UK in 1909.  He was at school during 1922/23, but I have found a note from my grandmothers paper which say he went to Australia, but unfortunately not which area (sorry).

His sisters Minnie (bn 1893) and Hilda (bn 1898) are also noted to have moved to Brisbane and Sydney (no details of which one each went to) if that is any help?

Anything you could find would be an amazing help!

thanks ;D

Durham / Mary Ann Judson bn 1871
« on: Sunday 09 January 11 21:01 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have a birth cert for elizabeth Ann Pears bn 1902 which shows her mother as Mary Ann Pears formerly Judson. thanks to other rootschatters I now have her in 1901, but cant find her anywhere before that.  On 1901 census it shows place of birth as Sunderland, but I can only find Mary Hannah Judson on he prev census.  This could possibly be her, but I cant find her marriage to Thomas Pears anywhere.

Can anyone help please?

thanks

Northumberland / Thomas Willis and Jane
« on: Saturday 01 January 11 21:37 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

I have a Thomas Willis bn 1825 Tynemouth to William Willis Isabella Watson.  I can find him on the census and a wife 'Jane' appears in the 1861 census, bn 1833 in Scotland.

On the two following census she is shown as North Shields, then the one after that reverts back to Scotland.

I cant trace a wedding on FreeBMD, or seem to find her earlier without any info on her previous name or even a rough location.

Does anyone have any ideas?  This is another one of my brick walls Im trying to break as part of my new years resolution!

thanks

Durham / James Edward Pears
« on: Thursday 30 December 10 21:05 GMT (UK)  »
Hi

Here I am at another brick wall  ::)

I have an Elizabeth Ann Pears bn 1902 in Hexham.  She lived for all of her life in Winlaton.  Ive just obtained her marriage cert (1922) and her father is shown as James Edward Pears, General Labourer.

My problem is I cant find him anywhere.  I dont have any other information about him, and I dont know who Elizabeth's mother was.  I dont know if she had any siblings or anything about the family.

Can anyone suggest where I start?

thanks

Family History Beginners Board / Can a copy cert be wrong?
« on: Tuesday 19 October 10 20:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Ive sent for a copy of a birth cert and the middle name of the person is different to that on BMD.

This person was the illegitimate child of a lady who was married.  The reason I query the middle name is that the name on freeBMD is the maiden name of her husbands mother (BURNETT) and the name on the cert is Burnip.

Is it possible that the cert is wrong?  It is written in a way that could not be interpreted as Burnett, so why would it be transcribed incorrectly?

Sorry I cant post the exact detail, but this person is still alive.

thanks
