Hi All.
This is a photo of my relatives shop in Boncath, from when they were running it in the 1960s. It was probably a black and white photo and has gone a funny colour. It would be great if someone could bring it back to life. The building is still standing and running as a shop, although no longer in my family. It can be seen on google, postcode SA37 0JN.

Thanks in advance.

« on: Tuesday 06 November 18 13:49 GMT (UK)  »
With the 100 year anniversary coming on Sunday, I wanted to read into my own relatives duties during WW1. I have the attached record for my Great Grand Father Edgar Cox but I just cant make any of it out, in particular his regiment and rank. Would be great if someone with a good eye could translate!

Thank you as always!

« on: Wednesday 25 July 18 16:18 BST (UK)  »
Hi Everyone!

Can you help please? My friends Grandfather served in the first World War. His name was Bernard William Franklin and was born circa 1884, Kingston upon Thames. We know he served in the Royal Fusiliers and have found his medal card. He is also listed as being awarded the Military Medal. Is anyone able to tell us when he was awarded this and for what service?

Thank you!

United States of America / Harvey Martin, Washington State
« on: Saturday 21 July 18 11:32 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

I need some help please. My family had always been aware that my mums Great Aunt Ellen "Cissy" Cox had emigrated to the USA, my mum visited her around 1970/71. When my mum was there she was sure she met a relative called Harriett, this was a mystery, until now....

It turns out that Ellen's Uncle, Harvey Martin was already in the USA when she moved there. I cant find a passenger record for him but he was born in Braughing, Herts in 1867 and died in Washington State in 1937. He married an English girl, Agnes Sager in 1892 in Thurston. I do not have access to any USA records and it would be great if someone could let me have more information on their life in the USA, I do believe they had a daughter, called Harriett and this may well be the lady my mum met on her travels.

Thank you all and sorry if i dont reply today to any replies.

« on: Friday 13 July 18 09:47 BST (UK)  »
Hi All.
This photo has been found in my grandmothers belongings but we have no idea who he is. Is anyone able to identify the uniform he is wearing and a date? This might help us give him a name.

Thank you.

World War Two / African Dagger? 1940s?
« on: Sunday 03 September 17 13:49 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

Currently clearing my Grandparents house and found this. It probably belonged to my granddad who spent time in North Africa in the War. Any experts out there? I believe then handle might be "Soapstone" but know nothing else. Any tips on cleaning etc?

Thanks

Hi All

This is Joseph Briden, my great great grandfather, doing his duty as a policeman. (B1879 - D1943). It would be wonderful if someone could clean and colour it if possible. Its the only known picture we have.

Many Thanks

United States of America / Ellen M Cox b1893 d1991 - 2nd marriage?
« on: Thursday 01 October 15 14:42 BST (UK)  »
Hi All

My mums Great Aunt (Ellen M Cox, known as cissy or sis) was born in London, UK in 1893 and moved to Washington State, USA.
I know she married Harvey B Ruchty (b1886 d 1961) and had 2 children with him (Hazel and George) and I have lots of info on them as my mother met Hazel once. Here's the but, I also think Ellen married Elmer G Ross in 1969 in Benton County but I can not find a birth or death for him. I believe they had a son together "Bud Ross" but I have been unable to find his birth or death or indeed whether he married etc.

Thank you for your help, my search ability from the UK is somewhat limited.
