Monmouthshire / Griffith Williams Newport golfer
« on: Sunday 31 December 23 15:22 GMT (UK)  »
Hi I'm trying to trace the history of a family member who was a professional golfer at Newport in the 1920s. Griffith Williams was born in Harlech in north Wales in 1893 and was a professional golfer somewhere in the London area before the first world war. When he came back from the war he was a club professional in Newport. I found an article from 2001 stating that Gwyn James, who was a club professional at Newport for 40 years, used to be a 12 year old caddy for Griffith Williams in 1920. Griffith married Ethel Mary Cox in Newport Market in 1922. I would be grateful of any further information about him. Thanks in advance.

Hoping that someone can help me. I'm trying to trace my great grandfathers family and reached a blank with his brother. He was Robert Roberts born in 1857 in Cricieth. His parents were John and Jane Roberts. I can see him in 1861 census and as a servant in 1871 census but then no trace or am I missing something?

Anglesey / Richard Lewis Amlwch
« on: Monday 30 December 19 21:02 GMT (UK)  »
I hope someone can help me. I'm looking for a second marriage of Richard Lewis a tailor from Amlwch. In 1901 he was 28 and lived with his wife Jane and three children. He is down as a widow on the 1911 census but I know he was married to a Mary ( I think) soon after as their first child arrived in 1914. I can't find the second marriage and it might not be on Anglesey? Would be grateful of any help.

Lancashire / All Saints Weaste
« on: Monday 12 February 18 17:40 GMT (UK)  »
I know that a relative of mine was baptized at All Saints Weaste in 1911. The mother was not married and names a father on the baptism record. I have a few questions that I'm hoping someone can help me with. Would she have been accepted for a church baptism if they knew the child had been born out of wedlock? If she lived in the parish would she have had to be a member of that church? If she names the father at the baptism would he have had to be there with her? Would he also have had to live in the parish? Grateful for any help.

« on: Monday 24 July 17 16:16 BST (UK)  »
Hi I've tried looking for this strand of the family before but with no luck. My great grandmother Jennett Williams was born in 1864 in Llandanwg / Harlech. She had siblings called Robert Williams 1861, Samuel Williams 1867, Margaret A Williams 1869, Kate S Williams 1872 and Griffith Williams 1874. Their parents were Griffith and Catherine Williams born 1836.
Samuel Williams lived at Gwalia House in Harlech but went to live to the Ffestiniog area before he died. His brother Griffith Jones Williams died in Harlech October 1950 and was a builder.
Samuel had 3 children Griffith born 1893, Ann Jane Williams 1901 and Catherine Williams 1906.His brother Griffith also had 3 children Trevor Wynne Williams 1906, Owen Watkin Williams 1908 and Emrys Griffith Williams 1910.
If anyone knows anything about the family I would be very grateful.

I would be very grateful if anyone could look up the marriage between Annie Jones and Cadwaladr David Jones in the Holy Trinity Church Penrhyndeudraeth in December 1891. I would like in particular to know who her father was and if possible their address. Diolch yn fawr
