Dublin / Infant Baker born in Feb 1877…mother dies following childbirth
« on: Sunday 25 October 15 14:28 GMT (UK)  »
My great great grandmother, Charlotte Forrester Baker, died several days after giving birth to a son in February 1877 at the Rotunda Hospital in Dublin.  The baby's father was James Baker . I have the baby's birth record but he was not named.
Charlotte also left two young daughters, one of which was my great grandmother.  The family resided at 13 Strandville Avenue in Clontarf.
My question is what would have happened to this child?  He would have had to have been nursed in order to survive….Would he have been given up to relatives or to an orphanage?  He did survive the birth so he went somewhere…

Any ideas or suggestions?

Thanks..

Leitrim / Reynolds of Cloone, Leitrim area
« on: Saturday 01 February 14 17:50 GMT (UK)  »
I am seeking information regarding a Reynolds family of Cloone, Leitrim.  John Reynolds was born in April of 1849 in Cloone, Leitrim.  This location was listed on his US naturalization papers.  He came to the US in 1866.  He settled in Abington, MA.  He lived with my gg grandmother's sister Mary Moran Rourke in Abington for awhile.  I recently found out that my ggg grandmother's maiden name was Reynolds.  She was Bridget Reynolds Moran born in Leitrim around 1795.  She had married James Moran circa 1820 in Leitrim.  They had four daughters, one of which was my gg grandmother.  All four of the daughters came to Massachusetts, USA during the famine.  One of the sisters to my gg grandmother married a Rourke from Drumshanbo.

Any information regarding the Reynolds family would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks,

Galway / Costello of Galway
« on: Saturday 22 October 11 20:24 BST (UK)  »
Hello,
I am seeking information regarding the Costello family of Galway. John Costello and Jane Flood had three known daughters: Mary Ann born in 16 September 1841, Sarah born in 1843 and finally Bridget born in 1845. I do know that Mary Ann was born in Ireland but I am not sure about the sisters. Mary Ann and her sisters ended up in Plattsburg, NY. Mary Ann married Hugh Ross and lived out her life there. Mary Ann's obituary stated that she was born in Galway on 16 September 1841. I believe Mary Ann came to the US around 1854..so the parents were probably with them. Anyone out there with any connections?..I would love to find out where in Galway they came from....Have aleady checked the IFHF. I think they might have come into the USA through Canada but I am not sure..
Thanks..
