Unwanted Certificates & Artefacts / An Album of Unknown Photographs
« on: Wednesday 16 November 05 02:02 GMT (UK)  »
I'm posting this in the hope that someone somewhere can also claim one of my ancestors as their own. That they can recognize some of these people.

Martha Evans' Album:
http://lightfootfamily.rootschat.net/album/index.html

This album belonged to my Gt. Grandmother. Her name was Martha Paddock (nee Evans) born 1854. She was the daughter of Hugh and Maria Evans (nee Roberts of Llangedwyn, Denbighshire) of Llanfechain, Montgomeryshire.

I don't know who these people are, but in many of the photographs I see a very strong family likeness.

The photos originate from various places. Yet another mystery.
Oh how I wish they had written on them!

Mayo / Forkin Co. Mayo
« on: Sunday 16 October 05 21:23 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I wonder if anyone can give me some advice about trying to find my Irish Gt. Gt Grandfather:

He was Michael Forkin, born circa 1820 in County Mayo. He married Mary, and moved to Burton on Trent, Staffordshire, England, where my Gt Grandfather James was born in 1857. Does anyone connect with this, and Is there any way I can ever find Michael in Mayo?

Thanks,

Susan.

Montgomeryshire Lookup Requests / Look up Request for Hugh Evans, Llanfechain
« on: Thursday 01 September 05 13:38 BST (UK)  »

Hi,

Could someone very kindly look on the 1841, and/or 1851 Census for Llanfechain, Montgomeryshire?
My G-G-Grandfather was Hugh Evans, born 1804/1805. Probably in Meifod, but he also states in other Census returns that he was born in Llanfechain.

He lived all his married life at Cae Dafydd, Llanfechain, and died at the age of 89.
The picture above is of Hugh and his wife Maria.

The 1871 Census is as follows:
Hugh Evans   Head  Mar  61  Ag. Lab.   Llanfechain, Montgomery.

Maria Evans   Wife   Mar  60                  Llanfechain, Montgomery. (she was actually born in Llangedwyn, Denbighshire)

Margaret Evans  Grand Daur    10         Llanfechain, Montgomery.

Jane Evans         Grand Daur      5         Llanfechain, Montgomery.

I don't know anything about the two Grandchildren. My G-Grandmother was their daughter Martha, who, at the time of the 1871 was away from home, working in service.

Any help will be very much appreciated.  ;)

Mary        Do      Wife 50  Mar  --------        Do.
