Hi,
I have heard of 'Bastardy Orders', and was wondering if they were in force about 1820 for the parishes of Wigan and Oldham.

The Common Room / Death Certificate - Wording
« on: Wednesday 13 October 10 03:24 BST (UK)  »
Hi all,

I have an ancestors death cert which as occupation shows her as "wife of ...".
Would this indicate that her husband was still living at the time fo her death. Would they usually show widow if the husband was already dead.
The death was 1854, county of Salop and Montgomery.
The informant does not appear to be a relative.

Technical Help / outlook express inbox message list
« on: Thursday 21 January 10 11:48 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
For the past few weeks emails have been arriving displaying the attachment icon, although there have been no attachments and the paperclip is not displayed. I have emails sorted by attachment, etc. so these emails get bundled in with others which do have attachments.
A bit of a nuisance and wondered if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, how to fix?

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Martha Cheetham - Death
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 17:22 BST (UK)  »
Hi Chatters,

Martha Cheetham born 3 Oct 1824 married Joseph Cheetham 18 May 1845.
Children born were Elizabeth 1849, Mary 1859, Joseph 1863.
Elizabeth married. Husband Joseph died 1880.
Martha together with children (Mary & Joseph) are on 1881 census. I cant  find them after this. I have checked various sources for deaths . A 1890 death is not her. A later Bolton death is also not her. She and her families are all Oldham people.Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Lancashire Lookup Requests / Lancashire - Dan Cheetham
« on: Friday 10 July 09 17:41 BST (UK)  »
Hello Chatters,
The 1845 marriage certificate of Joseph Cheetham (residing Oldham) and Martha, shows his father as Dan Cheetham (weaver).
Ongoing census records all show Joseph as born in Oldham about 1825/1826. I dont have Dan Cheetham on any census. I cant find a birth record for Joseph or his father Dan. I've checked IGI and A*****y. Any other suggestions, please?.

Technical Help / Email Problems
« on: Friday 26 June 09 20:48 BST (UK)  »
Hello Chatters,
I'm looking for a bit of tech. help, please. I use windows xp professional. I have Office 2007 (home and student version) which has Word, Excell, Power Point, and One-Note. I use Outlook Express for email. Just recently when attempting to reply to posts on threads of various Rootsweb Lists, the startup wizard for Outlook 2007 jumps onto the page. Outlook 2007 is not part of my Office suite, and I dont wish to install/buy it. When I eventually remove it from the page my
new message window doesn't appear, so I use the address book to find addresses and then send the reply. I have used a reset point and the microsoft diagnostics. Still can't get rid of the wretched wizard. Any suggestions, please?

New Zealand Completed Requests / Coops of Cooptown NZ
« on: Thursday 30 April 09 17:07 BST (UK)  »
Hello Chatters,
Looking for people researching the descendants of Thomas Coop and Ann Hall.Their children were Henry b.1813, Thomas b.1816, Ann b.1818, Samuel b.1819, Susan b.1821, Alice b. 1824, Joshua b.1828.
Some of these people lived in various Eastern states of Australia. Others in New Zealand.  Some moved between both countries.
I am interested as to whether Cooptown was named after or connected to this branch of the Coop family.
