Sussex / Trying to trace descendants of the Earp Family, from Brighton area
« on: Tuesday 10 March 15 23:58 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone,

My friends niece has come into possession of a Family Bible, with the name Earp being the main one.
I have found a tree on Anc, which has every name we can make out in it, but before I contact the tree owner (he has a lot of names, which makes me suspicious), I thought I'd put it out on here, incase there are any living relatives still in Brighton area.  One of the names is Edith Mary Earp, we have her date of death, and age at death, and also a note regarding the reason she died, so if there are any living relatives of this family, who can confirm they are legitimate, please get in touch, as we would love for this Family Bible to find its family once again.

Thanks,
Caz xx

Hi all,
The niece of a friend has found a family bible, and we are trying to track down any living relatives of the people mentioned.  Unfortunately we are having trouble making out the names, due to writing being faded in some pages.  Have attached one of the pages, in the hope that someone with better eyesight than my friend and I can possibly make out names and dates etc.
Many thanks in hope

Can these also be dated?  The middle one of the lady in the crinoline we think is 1860, going by a previous photo (definitely not the same lady as before)

Thanks,

Durham Lookup Requests / Hugh McLaren
« on: Saturday 08 December 12 21:50 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,
I wonder if anybody could be so kind as to check something out for me?

I have a Hugh McLaren, born 1913, who is my 2nd cousin 2x removed in my tree.  He was born in Scotland, and on Anc, it has flagged up that a Hugh McLaren, born same year, died in September 1995 in Darlington, Durham.

Before I send for the certificate, I was hoping some kind person could possibly look and see if they could confirm the name of his parents for me?

Thanks in advance,
Caz  :-*

Midlothian / Portobello Burying Ground?
« on: Tuesday 19 July 11 23:26 BST (UK)  »
Any of you Edinburgh experts out there have any idea where Portobello Burying Ground may be located?
St. Marks in Portobello? Seafield? Duddingston Kirkyard? or even the one on the Milton Road?
Having lived in that area from birth until I married, I'm embarrassed to say I have no clue where it is, had no idea it existed until I read a death cert which stated "Portobello Burying Ground as certified by Robert Scott having charge of the place of internment.

Any help would be appreciated.

Caz xx
