Occupation Interests / Jewellers
« on: Monday 28 February 11 15:52 GMT (UK)  »
I have discovered an ancestor was a jeweller in Hull and in 1880 left £600 to a daughter who gave her occupation as jeweller also , in the 1881 census. Does anyone know if there would be any info on them or their business and if so where I could find it ?
Thanks .

The Common Room / Accidental death
« on: Saturday 04 September 10 14:13 BST (UK)  »
Hello again,

I asked a question on here a few minutes ago and it was answered so quickly I thought I'd be cheeky and ask another !!

My uncle died in 1911 aged 6, the result of an accident . Some deals accidentally fell on him and he was crushed. I've looked through old newspapers but can find no record of it. Does anyone know if there would be any records in the National Archives ?
Also, would I be able to get any info from the coroner's office ?

Any help appreciated, thanks.

Sligo / McLoughlins in Sligo
« on: Wednesday 30 June 10 17:31 BST (UK)  »
I'm looking for any info on my great great grandparents.
Their names were Patrick McLoughlin ,1823-1877 and Maria  ? Ferguson/ ? Gaghan, 1830-1901. Both were born in Sligo and I believe they came over to England during the famine. They settled in Hull and had 10 children, Mary, Margaret , Jane, Patrick, Thomas, William, Charles, John, Julia and Catherine.
I know what happened to them from 1871 onwards, but can anyone tell me how I can get any info on their life in Ireland and their wedding and baptisms. ?
Any info or suggestions would be a great help.
Thanks

Yorkshire (East Riding & York) Lookup Requests / David Williams- Fisherman
« on: Tuesday 29 June 10 14:26 BST (UK)  »
Hi,
I'm new to this site and was wondering if anyone can offer any help in finding the death of my great grand-father.
His name was David Williams and he was a fisherman/skipper in Hull.
I have his marriage certificate, 26/10/1882, Parish church, Hull, St. Mary's and his name was on my grand-mother's birth certificate in1883.
I can't find him on any census records and I can't find his death either. My great grandmother was living with David Lowden in 1891 and using his name , although they didn't marry until 1897. Her second marriage certificate has her as a widow.
Any help would be appreciated.
