The Common Room / Birth Registration
« on: Friday 18 November 16 16:03 GMT (UK)  »
I want to order a copy of my aunt’s birth certificate. I think I have found the correct one except for the birth quarter which is given as the second quarter (2). She was born in March but the birth was not registered until April. So my question is, are the records organized by the event date or registration date?
Thanks Jessie

Armed Forces / Lancashire Fusiliers – 20th Foot
« on: Friday 19 February 16 23:23 GMT (UK)  »
Hi everyone! I’m trying to find more information on my great grandfather’s time in the Army. On his death certificate 1911 it states he was an Army pensioner. I’m 95% sure this is him.
From the service record 1760-1915 I have.
Name         Thomas Sullivan
Service #       382
Attestation year   July 1858
Regiment       Lancashire Fusiliers – 20th Foot
Discharge Corps    2ND BN 20TH REG OF FOOT
Discharge Date   July 1879
I don’t have the dates but from his service record he did serve abroad in China & Japan 3years 8 months, South Africa 3 years 3 months and Mauritius 1 year 4 months. Would he show on any census records and what documents would show his next of kin?
Thanks for any help
Jessie.

Suffolk Lookup Requests / Pakenham, Suffolk. - SIMPER/ROBINSON
« on: Friday 02 September 11 01:19 BST (UK)  »
From the IGI I have the Christening of Mary Ann Simper Robinson 18 Sep 1814, Pakenham, Suffolk.

Her parents were John Robinson and Jane Simper.

Mary Ann Simper Robinson was the illegitimate daughter of my 3rd great grandmother Jane Simper. I have been unable to find any information on Mary Ann Simper Robinson other than the Christening from the IGI.

Any help in finding a Marriage or Death record for her would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Jessie.

Suffolk / Cosford Suffolk
« on: Sunday 12 September 10 15:26 BST (UK)  »
I have several records where the place of birth is given as Cosford Suffolk. I have looked on the road atlas and Google Earth but I can’t find Cosford. Can anyone tell me where Cosford is located?

All that I have found out is that Cosford was in the sub-registration district of Lavenham.

Thanks
Malcolm

Shropshire Lookup Requests / Tuckhill Alveley
« on: Sunday 06 September 09 06:06 BST (UK)  »
I have a 1918 marriage performed at the Tuckhill church in the parish of Alveley, Salop.

The groom was a Soldier and I’m fairly sure the bride was from Birmingham. Are or were there any military bases in the area.

Thanks
Jessie

Suffolk / Removal Orders
« on: Tuesday 25 August 09 20:36 BST (UK)  »
I have just received copies of two removal orders from Bury St. Edmunds records office.

Both are for removal of members of the Simper family by Church Wardens and Overseers of the Poor to be delivered to the Church Wardens of Pakenham.

The first is from Barking to Pakenham on 07 May 1781 and the second is from Battisford to Pakenham on 16 Nov 1781.

Is there somewhere I can do a follow up and possibly find out more details?

Thanks
Jessie

Hi,

I’m trying to find the DOB and parents of Maria Everett.

This is what I have so far she was married to George Simper on 20 March 1853 in the parish of Edwardstone (spelling) her age was 25 and her father’s name is given as William Everett.

On the 1861 her place of birth is given as Little Waldingfield.

On the IGI there is a Maria Everett christened on 15 Feb 1829 at Little Waldingfield, Bts Suffolk, father William Everett and mother Elizabeth. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks
Jessie
