Durham Lookup Requests / The Sacred Heart and English Martyrs, Thornley Register
« on: Wednesday 24 February 10 17:54 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone got access to the registers of The Sacred Heart and English Martyrs RC Church, Thornley?

The IGI has Owen Flannigan Christened on 4th Aug 1856 with Parents Patrick and Eliza, this is good information but sometimes the Catholic Priests would give additional information on Parents original Parish. Both Patrick and Eliza came across from Ireland in about 1846 already married and with one daughter but I've never been able to establish where in Ireland they belonged.

Any help would be much appreciated

Durham / Durham Trials 1871

Is there anywhere to get specific details of trials in Durham in the 1870's?
On Ancestrys search there's a possibilty that one of the rellies was a very naughty boy but there's not enough detail to see if it's him or not

Hi,

Don't know if anyone can help with this but I'm trying to confirm whether a Martha Turton died between 1831 and 1835 and if so did her Widow, William, marry Jane Bates in 1835.

Any help really appreciated

Durham / Wilkinsons 1841 Census
« on: Wednesday 16 December 09 22:06 GMT (UK)  »
I'm trying to trace my GGG Grandfather Robert Wilkinson who resided in Kirkby in Ashfield (Nottingham) in the 1830's. He had Children William (1830) Mary (1833) and Samuel (1837) all shown on later census as being born in Kirkby in Nottingham.
Robert himself was born in Ticknall in Derbyshire abt 1798. By 1851 himself and the three children were in Hetton-le-Hole in Co. Durham working as a miner. By then he was a widower.
The Baptist Parish Register (Kirkby Woodhouse) has a William and Mary Wilkinson born at the right time to a Robert and Hannah Wilkinson of Portland House Kirkby in Ashfield, there was also an older son George born abt 1827. The register stops before Samuels birth date so he can't be confirmed.
What I can't find anywhere is any trace of them in the 1841 census which may help to confirm if the family in the registers is the right family. They could still be in Kirkby or have moved to Durham or be anywhere inbetween!!
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I have a branch of my tree who are listed in the Parish Register (Baptist) approx 1830 as living in Portland House, Kirkby in Ashfield.
Does anyone have any information regarding the building or what it's use / purpose was?

Hi,

I'm after William Wilkinson born Hetton-le-Hole in July 1877. Could really do with pinpointing his parents but it's a common name and is proving difficult.
The month and year of birth are definately correct.
