Hi All,

Does anyone have an old street map of Reading, and could tell me the location of Hope Street, I think it was in the vacinity of Howard street, so may have been demolished to make way for the fly over? I have a record of it on the 1911 Census, but cannot find it on any maps.

I am looking for a either a website or a historian who can help me research an area of Barbados, my ancestors went to Barbados in 1640 and became rich sugar plantation owners, and I am trying to gain a little knowledge on the place that still has there name, Kirtons in Barbados.

South Africa / Where do I start - update
« on: Sunday 04 July 10 15:05 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

I have a family legend that tells of my great uncle born in 1895, who went away to fight in the war, met an African girl and fell in love, he emigrated and married her. Obviously I don't have much to go on, I know his date of birth, parentage, where he was born, siblings. But not much else, I don't even know which War he was in, but think it was WW1, what can I do to try and start some sort of research on this character, my Mum was the prson who told me the story, but sadly she now has alzheimers so can no longer help me with my research. Only her youngest 2 siblings are still alive, and neither of them new of the story, because my Mum was older than them, she knew alot more of the family stories than they did, and she told them too me, I am now trying to follow up some of them. I know this is a needle in a haystack job, but any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,

Does anyone know anything about the Goucestershire regt. cricket team, at about 1900, my g.grandfather was a great cricketer, and a family legend said he played for Gloucestershire cricket club, but he didn't, i've checked with them, he was however in the Gloucesters regt, and I've now found out they had a cricket team at the time he served with them, where would I find out more?

Hi All,

Slim chance I know, but I am looking for any relatives of Francis Leonard Nicholson, B. 04/10/1919, in Reading Son of Agnes Nicholson, Nee Turner, and George Nicholson. D. April 2005 in Durham. Agnes Turner was my Great Aunt, and finding out about her son would solve a very long family mystery.

Thanks

Sarah
