London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / 1851 Census Look up Please

1851 Census

Would appreciate if someone could kindly look up my GGGrandfather on 1851 Census.

I have him on the 1861 (RG 9/174 pg 23)

I know he married Francis Henderson on 13 February 1859.  His address at the time of marriage was 34 Broad Street.

I believe his parents to be John Birch & Betsy (nee Hodson)

Any other info on him would be gratefully received  :)

World War One / Iron Cross Query

Hi All,

We have in our family's possesion an Iron Cross which was given to an ancestor.

This was given to them as a thank you in return for help after the end of the War.

This has a code number on the back.  Is there a way of tracing who would have been the reciever of this cross from ths number?

Derbyshire Lookup Requests / Purdy/Gawthorne - 1871 look up

Can any one help with the following query on my Purdy line?

I have a Joseph PURDY who married a Mary Jane (Gawthorne) in 1876

The information I have on Mary Jane Gawthorne is She was born abt 1853

In the 1881 census they are living with Joseph's father in Heanor, along with their daughter Ruth born 1877.

To date I had not been able to find out who Mary Jane's parents where.

It has been suggested to me that her parent’s where Jane Gawthorne and Isaiah Lancashire.  I have found a marriage for Jane Gawthorne to Isaiah Lancashire in 1855.

I have not been able to find a birth for Mary Jane Gawthorne, but have one for Mary Jane Lancashire in 1852

If this is the same person, I wonder why she was registered as Lancashire at birth (even though the parents where not married till 1855! ) and why she was listed as a Gawthorne on her marriage???

Can anyone she her on an earlier census?

Ann Ellis (nee ALLEN)

Looking for earlier Census showing details for ANN.  John  & Ann Married in 1851 so I am not sure if they would have been married at the time of the census or not. ???

I am not sure of the names of Ann's parent's - this is what I Am trying to find so I can take this line back further. :)

I have them on 1881
Thant shows them in Nottingham

I would if any one is able to do a census look up for me please?

I am trying to find details of my GG Grandfather's sister - Phoebe Birch

She was born 1852 in St Pancras.

I have the 1871 census where she is shown with her sister and brother in law - George and Mary Skues - she is shown as being aged 18 and her occupation is Tailoress

BIRCH - Henry Dancy - Middlesex

Please could someone look up HENRY DANCY BIRCH on any of these census returns 1871 or 1891 ?

He was born in 1860 - Strand, London.  Son of James BIRCH and Frances (nee HENDERSON).


I believe he married a Florence Emily - maiden name unknown - as I have not found the marriage details yet.

I have Harriett on the 1881 - by which time she is a widow aged 47.  She is shown with her four children -

Martha aged 20
Samuel aged 18
Sarah aged 16
Harriett aged 10

and a nurse child - Frederick ELLIS aged 2
