Have a family of 13 McAlister's inc. parents living in Co.Antrim. I have been able to find marriages of only 3 of 11 children. All records that i have been able to find concerning remaining 8 have only listed Culfreightrin as name place ( baptism records ) & (1851 extract ). How do i go about trying to locate remainder or is this a case of no paper trail ...no chance of finding them. Finding it really difficult to find records compared to Scotland. Doesn't help when i don't have a starting place.

Antrim / Ezekiel McAlister
« on: Tuesday 08 June 10 01:14 BST (UK)  »
Looking for assistance in locating the death of Ezekiel McAlister in 1900 in Laydd ( unsure of spelling).
Came across this in LDS site, but since then have been unable too locate on site. Not sure how i came across it in the first place, but it was definately there.
Ezekiel was born in 1857 in Culfreightrin. Parents were called Charles McAlister & Mary Ann Stewart.
Ezekiel married Mary Donoughy in Ballycastle R.C. chiurch, Parish of Ramoan in 1882.
Place name given for address for both was given as Terard ( place unknown).
Mary was a widow.
Believe there is more than one error entered in MC,
Mary's father is entered as Patrick Donoughy (farmer ).
But a Mary Waters married a Patrick Donoughy a few years previous and believe registrar entered incorrectly in MC.
Just trying too give a bit of background too anyone who could help in locating death of Ezekiel.
For the record he is not in 1901/1911 census and as far as i'm aware not on any passenger lists.
Any help in locating this greatly appreciated.

« on: Tuesday 25 May 10 00:43 BST (UK)  »
Hi,

Didn't realise that 1901 census was available yet. But if someone has access was wondering if they could find Mary Ann McAlister for me.  I believe she was residing in the Fairhead district, living with her son-in-law Charles McKiernan & daughter Mary McKiernan nee McAlister.
Much appreciated.

Antrim Completed Look up Requests / birth certificates
« on: Monday 26 April 10 21:40 BST (UK)  »
Hi ,

Was wondering if someone could throw some light on the availability of birth certs for years 1849 - 1863. According too Groni web page births were only made compulsory since 1864.
If this is true where does sites like I.F.H.F./ U.F.H.S. get there information for there site for births prior too 1864. I should state that these were R.C. births.
Where then if not available through Groni would i be able too attain this record ( not transcribed ).

Antrim / McAlister Family
« on: Friday 23 April 10 00:02 BST (UK)  »
Was wondering if anyone could throw some light on were too locate family members of this McAlister family. Info i have been able too find so far is the following.

1851 census extract.

Townland : Glenmakeeran.

Wife  : Mary Ann McAlister ( m/s Stewart ) b.c1823
Children : James b. c1845
               Alexander b. c1846
               John b. 1849 ( died sometime between 1851 & 1855)
               Catherine b. c1851
Later children not mentioned in 1851 extract.

Charles b. 1851
Margaret b. 1853
John b. 1855
Ezekiel b.1857
Robert b. 1859
Mary b. 1861
Jane b.1863

Sponsors in 1849 BC : Bernard McLane & Mary McLane.
Sponsors in 1851 BC : Daniel McCormick & Mary McLean.
Sponsors in 1853 BC : Daniel McCormick & Margaret McCambridge.
Sponsors in 1855 BC : James McAlister & Sarah Stewart .
Sponsors in 1857 BC : D.McCormick & Ann McAlister.
Sponsors in 1859 BC : Ellen McIlroy.
Sponsors in 1861 BC : John McAlister & Ellen McIlroy.
Sponsors in 1863 BC : Daniel McKinley & Mary McAlister.
Believe the McAlister's mentioned as sponsors in BC's are related too family through Charles b. c1819, although again, no Townland in which to follow this up.

Have transcribed copies of BC's for all of the children mentioned above except
James c1845, Alexander c1846 & Catherine c1851.
Unfortunatly none of these transcribed copies , which i purchased from I.F.H.F. , give name of Townland only Parish of Culfreightrin.

Have transcribed copies of MC's of Robert, Ezekiel & Mary.
In MC of 1879 for Robert, he is listed as living in Ballyvoy.
In MC of 1881 for Mary, she is listed as living in Ballypatrick.
In MC of 1882 for Ezekiel, he is listed as living in Terard ( transcription error ).

Witnesses in 1879 MC : James McAlister & Margaret Dillon.
Witnesses in 1881 MC : John McCann & Jane McAlister.
Witnesses in 1882 MC : Archibald Lynn & Anne Scally.
Believe Jane too be sister but unsure if James is brother or other relationas i have nothing too tell me otherwise.
Any help or advice is very much appreciated.

Antrim / Jane McAlister
« on: Sunday 04 April 10 01:58 BST (UK)  »
Looking for help in trying too trace Jane McAlister. Jane was born in 1863 in the Parish of Culfreightrin( not got a townland for this birth). Father was called.Charles McAlister. Sponsors in BC were Daniel McKinley & Ann McAlister ( possibly a relative). Last documented material that i have is from the marriage of her sister Mary McAlister too Charles McKiernan in 1881. In this MC Jane is entered as witness. Address for Mary was given as Ballypatrick so i am assuming that this was also the address for Jane.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
