Australia Lookups completed / Rosanna Priscilla LING - completed
« on: Monday 13 April 09 12:12 BST (UK)  »
Hi,  I was hoping someone may have cd or free access to Victorian BDM site or possibly census.  I am trying to find details on Rosanna Priscilla Ling, born 1877, Moama, Victoria to Jonathan Ling and Fanny Stokes.  One of 10 children.  Family moved slowly up the coast settling in Bowral, NSW for a while, where most of the children were raised.  Rosanna just drops of the map from there.  I have searched as much as I can in NSW and was thinking that maybe she went back to Victoria.  Her father death certificate shows her at age 31 when he died in 1908 (in Wollongong).

If someone could possibly find marriage details, or death date or anything at all, it would be most appreciated.

Thanks,
Kelly :)

Australia / Jonathon Henry LING
« on: Thursday 08 January 09 12:31 GMT (UK)  »
I am trying to find any information about my GGGF Jonathon Henry Ling, born approx 1836 in England, died 1908 Wollongong, NSW Australia. Married Fanny Stokes in Victoria Australia 1875, had ten children (Ellen Beatrice, Rosanna Priscilla, Helena Maud, William Henry, Emma, George Benjamin, Charles C, Blanche E, Florence A, Gwendoline M). Could have possible migrated to Australia as assisted immigrant in 1856 on "Arthur the Great".
Marriage certificate to Fanny Stokes shows his parents as John Ling and Mary Jane Bowen, death certificate shows parents as Francis and Mary.

Any information on his life in England, such as where he lived, sibliings, or his parents would be much appreciated.

Thank you
Kelly Bartley (nee Ling)

Australia Lookups completed / ROBINSON, James & Annie Shipping Lookup please
« on: Thursday 04 December 08 22:35 GMT (UK)  »
Hi,

I was hoping someone could please help me find out what ship James Robinson and his wife, Annie Elizabeth Blanchard Robinson came out to Australia on.

According to their daughters birth certificate, they were married in England in 1881 and their daughter was born in August 1883 in Australia, so there is a very short period where they could have travelled.

I have searched as many sites as I can find on the internet and the closest I could come up with was on the australian mariners site where a Mr & Mrs Robinson came out in February 1883 on the steamer, SIAM, but there are no other details to say its them.  Is there somewhere I could look that would show a passenger list when they left England?

James was aged approx. 39 when his daughter was born, Annie was either 30,  23, or 22 when she gave birth (three separate years of birth for same person on documentation)

Annie was born at Ilminster, Somerset, UK.  Unsure about James.  They moved to a property called Turanville at Scone in the Hunter Valley, NSW upon arrival.

Thank you,

Kelly  :)

Somerset Lookup Requests / LARCOMBE, PALMER - BDM/Shipping look up please
« on: Tuesday 02 December 08 11:53 GMT (UK)  »
Hi, I am just new to rootschat and family history research and I think this is a fantastic website.

I am looking for any details of Charles Henry Larcombe, b1809, married Ann Blanchard Palmer December 1847, Ann b1822, d1865.  Three children that I know of, Mary Palmer Larcombe, b1849, Charles Henry Larcombe, b1856, Annie Elizabeth Blanchard Larcombe possibly born 1853 or 1860 (my gg-gm)  I have been given 1861, 1871, 1881,  census details, showing that in 1861, Charles senior was a school master and they all lived at Silver Street, Ilminster.  by 1871 the younger two children were boarders with the Emms & Wilson family at Ditton Street Ilminster and by 1881 only Annie EB Larcombe (aged 21) was "adopted" by the Gould family and working as a drapers assistant in Middlesex.

so, I was hoping someone could please help me with either parents for Charles snr. or Ann Palmer, death dates of any of the parents or children listed (except Annie EB Larcombe), any details of the school Charles snr worked at, or any thing else that might be of interest regarding them.

Also, Annie EB Larcombe married James Robinson in 1881 and migrated to Australia between 1881 & 1883.  They had a daughter born in Oz 17th August 1883.  I am trying to find details of the ship they came out on.  I have searched Australian records and the closet I can find is a Mr & Mrs Robinson on the steamer SIAM arriving in Feb 1883 in Sydney.  Is there a way I can check at the start of their journey in UK if this is them .

Thanks heaps!!!
