Pembrokeshire / Ann Rees born Milford c1806.
« on: Saturday 10 September 22 11:10 BST (UK)  »
This lady is my 3 x gt grandmother and she is proving hard to trace in any parish records. In the 1861 census she states she was born Pembroke, Milford. She is shown as age 48 and under the name of Alport in this census. In most other census returns her age indicates she was born c1806.

There are no suggestions the family was non conformist. I wondered whether anyone had any idea where she might have been baptised? Does anyone possess parish registers for any of the churches in that area? Is it possible to look up to see if she can be found please?

I am not familiar with Milford so have looked at Genuki but the situation for this area looks quite complicated. It does state the church records start from 1808, so it may be she cannot be found. I note there is a connection with Steynton parish. Any information would be appreciated.

Pembrokeshire / Ann Rees born Milford c1806.

Does anyone have access to the parish registers for Steynton, Pembrokeshire for the period c1806?

I am trying to find a baptism for my 3x gt grandmother, Ann Rees. She states she was born Milford in the census. I understand that at that time the baptism would have occurred in Steynton if Anglican, or in a non conformist chapel in Milford. Ann Rees died in 1885 aged 79 which is the most accurate source for her birth year.

I cannot find anything on Freereg. There are trees on Ancestry but I have reason to doubt these are accurate.

Genuki indicates that Dyfed FHS hold some of the non conformist records.

Warwickshire / Burial in the Solihull area in 1909.
« on: Sunday 29 September 19 11:00 BST (UK)  »
This is an enquiry on behalf of someone resident in the USA. His gt grandmother, Annie Maria Kirk (nee Jones) died in the Solihull area in 1909. He has been unable to establish where she is buried. Neither of us has knowledge of that place so it would be appreciated if someone could advise on this please.

He doesn't have her death certificate, so the precise place of residence at death isn't known. I have advised him to obtain this.

Flintshire / Query on place shown in Hope Parish registers
« on: Wednesday 18 September 19 15:57 BST (UK)  »
I have been researching my Bond ancestors who were baptising children in Hope in the 1780s. Benjamin and Hannah Bond had several children who were baptised there. The curate at the time was very helpful in the additional information written in the registers. It says that Benjamin Bond was an Innkeeper of Cumney/Cumney/Cumnie/Curney. I cannot work out where that would have been. Does anyone have a suggestion for the location of this place please? I did wonder about Cymau as that is the closest I can get. It could be the curate was English and unfamiliar with the Welsh names.

Flintshire / Parish records for St Eurgain and St Peter, Northop.
« on: Saturday 14 September 19 14:34 BST (UK)  »
Does anyone have access to the parish registers for St Eurgain and St Peter in Northop please?

I know that they have these in the Flintshire Archives but am trying to establish what sort of condition they are in for the 18th century and earlier. There is a dearth of information from them online which makes me wonder if they aren't in a great state.

I am researching the Bond family who were around there pre 1800, plus later.

Could I please ask someone to translate the article highlighted in the link attached?

https://newspapers.library.wales/view/3687941/3687944/13/kerridge

This is titled, "Dolwyddelen"and dated 17 September 1915. I am particularly interested in the section which mentions Mrs Kerridge, Gwydr Arms.

Caernarvonshire / Death in Dolwyddelan in 1913.
« on: Saturday 23 March 19 11:20 GMT (UK)  »
Does anyone know where a person would be buried who lived in Dolwyddelan and died there in 1913?

Are there any Memorial Inscriptions available?

Which newspaper would publish an obituary at this time?

Hello Rootschatters,

Can anyone find an entry for Robert Williams bc 1855 in the 1861 and 1871 census returns?

I have him from 1881 onwards but the earlier years have eluded me. It is thought he had siblings by the names of Edward and Lydia, no details of their years of birth are known. In the census returns for  years 1891-1911 he shows his place of birth as Conwy. In the 1881 it is Llangelynin, Caernarfonshire. There seem to be family links to Liverpool.

The Common Room / Adoption and the Family Tree.
« on: Thursday 20 September 18 11:17 BST (UK)  »
Hello Rootschatters,

I apologise if this question has been raised before but I haven't been able to find it on this site.

How do you treat people who have been adopted on your family tree please? By this I mean which name do you show for them on the tree? I have entered some of my relatives who were adopted in their birth names but noticed that others have put them under their adopted names on their trees. Which is the correct treatment?

Jo.
