Somerset / Martha Jeffery
« on: Friday 25 April 25 13:19 BST (UK)  »
My great x 6 grandmother was a Martha Jeffery (married name I think) born around in 1760s. Her son was Faustin Jeffery 1789-1866. I found a Sarah Faustin, daughter of Thomas and Elizabeth Faustin in Petherton, Somerset. But I could find not mention of a Martha (possible sister) or of Sarah having married or indeed the marriage of Thomas to Elizabeth. If anyone can help I would be so grateful.

Hello can anyone help here? I am seeking birth of Martha circa 1750 to 1767 - she married Richard Jeffery in Huntspill in 1785. I would love to know if they had kids too.

Somerset / Faustin Jeffery 1789-1866

Hello all

This man is my brick wall which is about to come crashing down I hope. I recently found a will in which he is a benefactor dated 1818. It is the will of Richard Symes of Otterhampton, he describes Faustin as his Godson and also son to his daughter in law Martha Jeffery. Faustin is also bequeathed a gold watch that had belonged to his grandmother, presumably Richard Symes' deceased wife. His wife was Ann Hancock of Huntspill and they were married in 1780 and appear not to have had children. Martha's marriage was to a Richard Jeffery where she said her maiden name was Nunns (she said she is a spinster). So is Martha Ann Aymes' daughter, or was Martha married to a son of Richard Symes'? It's still a conundrum either way but and others are thrilled to have made this progress.

Hello

I have been trying to locate the birth notice of this man for years and years. He says in 1851 census that he was born in Huntspill but I have been unable to find him, his death notice says Cannington and his army deserter notice that he was born in St Giles, London, I cannot find him in any of these places.

He lived in London from around 1819 onwards and was married in 1811 in Dublin

Armed Forces / Auxilliary Defence Service 1825
« on: Monday 20 April 20 14:15 BST (UK)  »
Hello

Can anyone tell me what the Auxilliary Defence Service would have been involved in, in 1825?

An ancestor addressed a meeting at the Crown and Anchor pub in 1825 and said he was in this service
