Cheshire Lookup Requests / Who did my Lucy Hyde marry?
« on: Tuesday 06 April 10 17:11 BST (UK)  »
Hello, I would be very grateful for some help please. I have a problem trying to identify the spouse of my LUCY HYDE and would like to ask some kind person to check two marriage entries for any clues about the occupation of the groom and names of the witnesses.
She had a brother Nathan Hyde who had married ELIZABETH LEE 1 Jan 1798.

1. Lucy Hyde married HENRY LEE at Stockport St. Mary on 21 May 1799
2. Lucy Hyde married JOEL GEE at Hyde Gee Cross on 29 May 1803.

Thank you.

Durham / Lost toddler in Darlington
« on: Monday 01 March 10 18:42 GMT (UK)  »
Hello, I am back again after a long spell.
I would be extremely grateful for any help at all in locating a missing toddler, please.

I am searching for anything about this little chap called Harry Pilkington.
He appears on the 1871 census for Darlington East. Victoria Place. St John's with the family of John Pilkington Head 45 Silversmith Employer 1 man. b. Darlington.
His mother was Martha Pilkington nee HYDE 40, b. Denton, Lancs.
John Pilkington, a widower, had married Martha Hyde at Trinity church, Darlington on 10th Dec. 1867 .
Living in the household were two of his children from his first wife,
Edward, Unm. 20 and Eliza Jane Unm. 17, and their new child
Harry Pilkington son age 2, b. Darlington.

I have been quite unable to find any record or registration of his birth anywhere.
Harry's mother died on 25th Oct. 1872, the following year.
Harry Pilkington does not appear on the 1881 census.
Assuming that he did not survive, I sought a death certificate but there is nothing that fits him there either.

My first request, please, is for some look-ups in the local Parish Registers to see whether Harry was baptized, possibly from December 1867 onwards.
A look-up for a burial of his mother Martha in the last week of October 1872.
Perhaps the same church might have a burial for little Harry - he must be somewhere!!   ???

Derbyshire / Long Lee Farm, Rowarth
« on: Monday 11 July 05 18:26 BST (UK)  »
Hyde of Long Lee Farm, Rowarth
This house was an ancestral home to John Hyde from 1600
Is there anyone who could please help me find a Mr. Michael J.H.Leete late of Long Lee Farm in Rowarth.
MICHAEL LEETE of Long Lee Farm, Rowarth, Derbyshire, bought the property, 190 acres, in 1971. He did a lot of research about the HYDE family and the history of the farm.
His wife is called LIBBY and they had two children at that time; EMMA who would now be 36 years old and SIMEON 35 years old.
Michael Leete was an Accountant in Manchester.
Michael was still living there with his wife and young family in June 1995 when he exchanged letters with Neal Hyde of Hale, Altringham. They were discussing WILLS and research about the HYDE families who were the ancestral owners of Long Lee.

I too am a HYDE and my family have known Neal Hyde's family for 150 years. I would dearly like to contact Michael Leete.

I would be grateful for ANY help at all in tracing the current whereabouts of this family, please.
All help welcome.

The Common Room / Current Paternity Rights to his surname
« on: Tuesday 04 January 05 16:31 GMT (UK)  »
Copuls s.k.s. please explain or clarify for me exactly what rights of surname an unmarried father has got for his child.

I have heard that for an un-married couple, if the father registers the newborn infant then it will be HIS surname which will appear on the birth certificate, whereas if the mother registers the infant, then it would be HER surname which is on the certificate.
What, therefore, is the necessary course of action that the father should take in order to ensure that the infant is given HIS surname so that he does not forfeit any Rights of Paternity for his (bastard) child in these uncertain times when so many couples break-up; short of legal adoption should they marry at a later date.

In other words, how can he best give his infant HIS surname??

Thank you,
Sue
