Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Pulham Manor court book 1670s - entries in LATIN
« on: Tuesday 25 September 18 19:20 BST (UK)  »

2 documents attached from 1671 and 1672 parts of Pulham Manor Court Book regarding William ARTIS that need English "translation". Documents downloaded from Family Search images - hoping that resolution is acceptable (unfortunately the way the book was filmed means that some lines appear to "run into" the spine)

[NOTE: Unable to find any reference in the 1675 entries - perhaps this was an error made in the 1680 entry(?) ... should have been 1672]

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Court book entry 1695 Latin deciphering please
« on: Thursday 20 September 18 17:25 BST (UK)  »
Having trouble making any sense of an entry in a Manor Court Book for Pulham in Norfolk. Date at beginning of document is 1695. Apart from the names I cannot decipher what is going on ....... I have attached 4 lines from the document. It is about 21 lines in total, but am limited by size restrictions on images. Would really appreciate it if anyone could tell me what was in dispute here!! Many thanks

Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help with birth in parish register
« on: Thursday 20 September 18 15:31 BST (UK)  »
Any clues for the missing word please:
"Sarah the Daughter of Willm Artis and Susan his wife ------ was borne Sept(ember) the 3rd 1698"

Also, why would a birth be recorded when there is no baptism / burial associated with it in the register? Have never come across this ....

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / LAVENHAM Baptism look up please - POULSON
« on: Thursday 15 January 15 19:28 GMT (UK)  »
Could someone please confirm baptisms 1830s - 1850s for children of John & Ann Poulson. They were married in Lavenham in 1835, and their eldest daughter (Mary Ann) appears in F Search - 9 Feb 1836 - but no further baptisms recorded.
Census of 1851 lists a number of children and all in Lavenham .... assume they should have been christened there?

many thanks :)

Technical Help / digital book view on FamilySearch - COMPLETED
« on: Monday 24 March 14 20:37 GMT (UK)  »
Has anyone accessed a digital book through the family search site?

Every time I try to view what is suggested as a digital copy of a book in their catalog (in what looks like PDF format) I get a viewer .... but cannot see any details of the book I want! It is most frustrating and I cannot see anywhere in the FS help that explains either how this works or what to do if you have a problem.

Anyone out there able to help?

cheers

Suffolk Completed Lookup Requests / Weybread Parish Registers
« on: Monday 24 March 14 19:08 GMT (UK)  »
Can anyone clarify why there are (apparently) no registers for Weybread before 1687?

I have seen on the GENUKI site that the "church was founded in 1687" and notice that this is the earliest date for the registers of Weybread on the familysearch site, and also in the parish list of the Suffolk Record Office.

There must have been a church there before this! I have relations who were definitely living there in the 1670s ..... as they appear on the Hearth Tax Returns.

Cheers ???
