Yorkshire (West Riding) / BROOKS/NEWBY (Charles John & Mary Thomasine)
« on: Monday 10 August 09 11:47 BST (UK)  »
I believe my great grandfather, Charles John Brooks, remarried following the death of his first wife Rosanna.   His second wife was Mary Thomasine Newby, and I have them living at 4 Slater Street, Tipton Staffs, in 1911.   Mary came from York City, and I wonder if anyone has any information or connection with her or her family.   If so, I would be delighted to hear.

Somerset / BROOKS/OUSLEY - Chard, Williton areas
« on: Monday 10 August 09 11:34 BST (UK)  »
My grandfather Denis Cuthbert Brooks was born in 1883 in St Decumans Parish, Williton, Somerset.   He was the son of Charles John Brooks and Rosanna Ousley, who were married in Westbourne, Sussex on 31 August 1871.   Denis, I believe, had several brothers and sisters - Frances Emmeline b c1875-80), Percy William (April 1874), Ethelbert (c1875-1880), Annette Dorcas (1875), Walter (1879), Olive (1881 died as a baby), Isaac (possibly Ira Jesse)(1884) and Gladwyn Imbert Brooks (1884).    We were unaware of the existence of any of these brothers & sisters until discovering them on census sheets, and wonder if anyone has any connection with any of them.
I do believe that Gladwyn was killed during WW1, and Annette became a teacher near Taunton.   Other than that, I have very little information.   If there are any decendents out there I would be delighted to hear from you.

Herefordshire / Old photographs by AW DeAth ,Leominster
« on: Thursday 05 February 09 20:51 GMT (UK)  »
I have some old family photographs taken by AW DeAth, Leominster, believed to be of the Powell family, Leominster, at a wedding.    I would dearly love to identify the people in these photos and wonder if anyone knows of any information remaining in the area on these photographers or whether there is anyone in Leominster who may be able to assist me.   Any details, however small, would be appreciated.
Thanks

Tipperary / Alexander Mcrae 1872-1923
« on: Wednesday 28 January 09 19:04 GMT (UK)  »
Searching for Alexander McRae in Clonmel.   According to records he worked for the government for many years in connection with forestry work, stationed at Clonmel.   I can't find any record of him at all, and wonder if anyone can help.   He was born in Scotland 1872, and probably moved to Ireland sometime after 1896, probably with wife Elizabeth.   If anyone can help I would be pleased to hear.

Would it be possible to see if there is anything listed for a CHARLES COLENSO HARRIS, born South Molton, Devon, England, September 1900.    He emigrated to the USA, I think around 1920 and was believed to be living in Chigago in the last census records.
Parents were Charles Harris and Elizabeth Rhoda Harris.

Any information greatly appreciated.

Banffshire / McRae family, Lintmill, Seafield, Cullen 1880s
« on: Thursday 22 January 09 12:48 GMT (UK)  »
Any information, however small, on the Lintmill area would be appreciated as I know very little about it.    My great grandfather Robert McRae and his wife and children were living in a dwelling at Lintmill Front Row in 1881 - I guess it is probably long gone now.

I am visiting the area later in the year and would obviously like to explore my family roots as much as I can whilst I am there.    My first visit to Scotland - I live at the other end of the country, in Devon, where my grandfather eventually finished up!

Look forward to any replies.
