Kent / Pubs/Licensed Victuallers/ Landlords = NORTFLEET
« on: Monday 23 January 12 21:05 GMT (UK)  »
I s there anyone who has details of where licensee data/ applications can be found for Public House in Northfleet circa 1900  to 1930 ?

Have found an index of pub/ licensee data (E R Green Collection) in Gravesend Library but no flesh on the simple names and years quoted  :(

Were there not applications, in that period, from those applying to be a Pub Landlord... if so, where would they be now  ???

The Pub: The Dover Castle, Dover Road, Northfleet

Year &  Landlord: 1926 = ? Mansfield and 1909 - 1914 Charles Maxwell (aka Maxwell-Holroyd)

PS: Have ALL the 'City Ark' and 'Census' data available  :-*

Thanks

Dave

Yorkshire (West Riding) Lookup Requests / Leeds Bapt 1849/50 - Barrack St Area
« on: Sunday 08 November 09 14:38 GMT (UK)  »
Hi Chatters

Am after the baptism of one Robert Mansfield (born on 18 February 1849) at 4 Barrack Street, Leeds.

Dad (also Robert) was a serving Sargeant in Royal Horse Artillery at time (Mum was Mary (nee Fortune).  They were previously in Woolwich due to Dad's RHA service and in Leeds in 1849 probably for the same reason.

Any help in providing data, including obtaining copy of actual register entry, would be much appreciated.....

Have 'ALL' other details about this family (inc Census).... Ta Muchly
DAVE MANSFIELD

ps Do hope I have the right 'geographical' part of Yorkshire... sure someone will let me know if I haven't  ;D

Suffolk / FIDGETT - Ipswich - St peters
« on: Sunday 12 July 09 12:14 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Am looking up details of one George Herbert aka 'Bertie' Fidgett (b 1883/4 - d 1915 France).  Have all his own WW1 data and enough about his own family onwards...   this is for Boss at work :-\   He joined up in 1900 and shows up alone as soldier on 1901 census...

BUT  cannot seem to find any relatives going backwards (ie parents) on Census 1891, 1881, etc.  Have managed to find a Thomas Fidgett marrying a Rebecca Ellen Clixby in 1871 in Hull ???

Haven't yet got anything like GRO certificates to indicate precisely parents names but, do know from WW1 soldiers docs that Mum (forename looks like Rebecca) Fidgett was living in St Peters, Suffolk.  see attached

On the 'next of kin section... what does it say in brackets alongside name Charles Fidgett (is he the father??)?

I am aware of the deviations on the surname but this hasn't seemed to help..

Cheers

Document removed as I think that the initial query has been answered and unfortunately the size of of the document is distorting the thread.  Please feel free to post a smaller resized version.

Armed Forces / 73RD DIVISIONAL SIGNAL COMPY RE
« on: Friday 22 May 09 21:34 BST (UK)  »
Hi

Have one Leonard John Bradley (b 1892 d 1937).  Only proof of his WW1 service is Copy of Wed Cert of 1917 in which he is given as: 'Lance Corporal R.E.' and residence at time '73rd Divisional  Signal Company, Springfield Chelsmford'.

Now... it is suggested that the '73rd Division' (which seem to comprise of 'Infantry') never went overseas therefore explains why I find no suitable medal index cards (therefore no medals) or service/pension records?

THERE IS NO REGIMENTAL NUMBER....

If all this is correct can anyone explain - how a Lance Corporal RE fits in with what seems to be a predominantly 'Infantry' Division.  Where indeed does Chelmsford fit in circa 1917?

Have been given varying links to sites but none which explain what I need to know.

Regards
DAVE
