I cannot find my ancestor on this census. John PETTS born 17th May 1851 Wadhurst which has been in Sussex and Kent depending on what you are looking at.  His parent were George PETTS and Martha HODGEKIN.

Any help finding this family would be great, I have them on the 1871 and Martha on the 1881 as a widow, ans John with his wife Jane on the 1881.

It is just the 1861 I cannot find

Hi I really hope that some of you very experienced people can help me.   Here is my complex query:

There are many questions  on this couple the facts as I know them are:

On 1861 census married living in Kensington.
Daniel age 22 and says he was born in St Marylebone, meaning born 1839
Jane age 22 and says she was born in Wellington, Devon. Meaning born 1839

Have also found Jane MARSH on the 1851 census with her parents but age indicates she was born 1849 

Got birth certificate for their son George Henry born 11 September 1863 states father Daniel GALLOWAY mother Jane GALLOWAY formerly MARSH. Living Marylebone.

Daniel & Jane were married in Marylebone my information, found on Ancestry is as follows:

Banns called on Nov. 27th, Dec. 4th and 11th. At Christchurch, St Marylebone.
States married 14th December 1859
Names on Banns read Daniel GALWAY bach. and Jane MARSH spin.

Marriage certificate says:

14th December 1859 at Christchurch, St Marylebone
James GALOWAY, of full age, Bachelor, Bricklayer, Buine ST,
Father Richard GALOWAY, Labourer.

Jane MARSH, of full age, Spinster, Buine St,
Father Charles MARSH, Bricklayer.

No signatures just the mark of.  Witnesses were: Robert HILL or HALL and Caroline GALLOWAY.   

Where do I look for their births  as so far not been able to find any.  Daniel or James?   

Need some experience.

George PETTS  -  Throwley, Kent.     The background:

I have been working backwards from Georges son John.  I have John’s marriage certificate and his birth certificate but am still not sure if I have the correct George PETTS.
On Johns Marriage certificate it says that his father was George PETTS a packer.  The marriage was carried out at St Peters Church, Walworth, in the parish of St Mary, Newington, Surrey.
On John’s birth certificate it says mother Martha PETTS nee HODGSKIN  father George PETTS occupation a servant! This birth was registered in the Registration District of Ticehurst Sub District Wadhurst in the counties of Sussex and Kent.
I took this as my John’s birth as there were no other births in this district at the correct time that could be mine.

I have mother  Martha  b. Lambeth, Surrey, father  George  b.  Throwley, Kent and son  John b.  Wadhurst, Sussex on the 1871 census all together living St George, Southwark.   

I have found that George marries Martha HODGEKIN 1848 in St John the Baptist, Hoxton, Middlesex.  But the registration district is Shoreditch.  On this is says George is a servant.

But there is an anomaly with this marriage…..when I purchased the copy cert. it said that George’s father was George.  I could not find this at all.  But did find a John PETTS as a possible father.  Some months later when looking online I have found another marriage certificate with all the same details except the fathers name which has been changed to John.  (A new certificate was done I think as nothing was crossed out).  Georges father was John PETTS a Laborer. Martha’s father name was also changed to Richard from Michael!!!

I have been to LDS and look at the Throwley parish registers and the only George PETTS  born Throwley I can find is:

Hello,  can anyone help me please???

I have been searching for Louisa Bourne b circ 1851 Rye Sussex.

I have found her on the 1851 census  with parents Alfred & Winifred Bourne and siblings Caroline b  1843,  Mary Ann b. 1845 and Alfred B 1847.   All in Rye.

She is only a few months old on the census.

Hi can someone please help. 

I have found Alfred BOURNE with his wife Winifred PADGHAM in the 1861 census living in Rye, Sussex.
Also have them in the 1871 with 4 children still in Rye.

I know he married Winifred PADGHAM Sept 1/4 1843 in Battle but she was born in Rye abt 1818.  Are these places close???  I am in Suffolk.

I cannot find them in the 1851 census at all.  All 4 children were born Rye between 1843 - 1850 so far.

Any luck anyone?
