Aberdeenshire / Alexander Ledingham CLARK
« on: Saturday 01 May 21 04:54 BST (UK)  »
John Clark married Janet Emslie in Daviot, Aberdeenshire, on the 10th of August 1845 and had many children born in Chapel of Garioch about whom I know quite a lot.

However, somehow I also have one child with the name of the subject above about whom I know only that he married Nelly MacLean in Inverness in 1878 when he said that he was an 'Engineer Journeyman'. I suspect that he would have been born/baptised between the marriage of John and Janet and the birth of Francis Wood Clark on the 11th of February 1850 at Chapel of Garioch.

Any clues regarding Alexander will be much appreciated.

Lancashire / Frank Harmer Caron
« on: Thursday 19 March 20 04:55 GMT (UK)  »
I need help, please.

I have the marriage certificate of Peter Harmer Caron aged 24 to Doris Broome aged 22 in 1922 at Collyhurst, Manchester. Included is the name of his father - Frank Harmer Caron as musician.

Who is his father? When/where was he born/baptised?

One of the witnesses to the marriage was one Kitty Harmer Caron, but I have no idea who she might be.

Can anybody help?

London & Middlesex Lookup Requests / Sarah Elizabeth Caron aka Dolly Harmer
« on: Wednesday 18 December 19 06:20 GMT (UK)  »
From an obituary of Dolly Harmer reads: "Came from a theatrical family; her father was Peter Harmer, and her brothers Joseph and Frank were musicians."

Can anyone tell me anything about those two brothers, please?

The Common Room / Pierre AKA Peter Joseph Caron
« on: Thursday 14 November 19 03:14 GMT (UK)  »
Is there anyone who can tell me who the parents were of this man, please ?   ???

Pierre/Peter Joseph married twice, first to Rebecca Spring Mantor in 1844 who he deserted in 1858 when he was 34. He married Margaret in 1859 claiming to be a bachelor. Rebecca Caron is on the 1861 & 1871 census enumerated as married, so Peter's marriage to Margaret looks to be bigamous.

London and Middlesex / Elizabeth 'Wooddalden' . . .
« on: Friday 02 August 19 06:27 BST (UK)  »
This woman married Peter Caron on the 3rd of August 1804 in Finsbury, London.

I am almost certain that her surname is improperly spelt and so I am appealing for help or suggestions in finding her baptism or burial dates/places as well as any descendants from the marriage, please.

London & Middlesex Completed Lookup Requests / Sarah Elizabeth Caron
« on: Wednesday 31 July 19 10:57 BST (UK)  »
The subject was born in the March quarter of 1867 in Bethnal Green, supposedly the daughter of Pierre Joseph Caron who may have anglicised his first name to Peter.  Was her mother possibly Rebecca nee Mantor?  Is there anyone who can confirm that, please ?  If that is correct, Sarah gave herself the stage name of Dolly Harmer who turned out to be a famous entertainer!

Perthshire / Anna Kettle
« on: Monday 19 March 18 04:39 GMT (UK)  »
"My" Anna Kettle, baptised about February 1705 in Muthill, Perthshire to Thomas Kettle and Lilias Raitt, I believe went on to marry William Baxter in November 1741.

My question is - where/when did Thomas marry Lilias?

I will be most grateful for any information or advice - Jock.  ;D
