When we visited Dundee my Father always  remarked on how he was on board a ship anchored in the bay. He called it the 'borstal ship' but I am wondering if this is also the Mars Training ship.

Angus (Forfarshire) / Help with David Milne Gardner
« on: Monday 19 April 10 20:40 BST (UK)  »
I need input on how to go about finding where David Milne Gardner lived from the time of birth till he was around 18. He was born in 1893 at 60 Logie Street, Dundee and I found him on the 1901 census at 40 Coupar Street, Dundee. The two streets are not far way from one another.

His mother apparenly gave birth to him at Logie street then he seems to have moved to Coupar Street,  not with his Mother. She moved to Blackscroft road and then married 2 years later being 6months pregnant at the time. She married well and lived in a good part of town.
I am rambling but I am trying to understand what happened to David what records could I search to see where he lived.
Grandparents where mentioned but I cannot find them and as the census is only every 10years that does not help.

Angus (Forfarshire) / School Information.
« on: Friday 16 April 10 03:55 BST (UK)  »
I am trying to find which school would have been used by someone living at 40, Coupar Street, Dundee. His name was David Milne Gardner and this would have been from about 1897 to around 1910.  Does anyone know who holds the school records. Thankyou for any help.

Angus (Forfarshire) / David Milne Gardner
« on: Wednesday 25 March 09 18:37 GMT (UK)  »
I am searching for information on David Milne Gardner born 20th November 1893. His Mother was Maggie Gardner and she married Henry Pettie in 1898. There is no father listed on Davids birth certificate. Just his mother Maggie. When his mother married in 1898 she was already 6months pregnant with another baby and she had what was known as an irregular marriage. I am trying to see if it was possible for this Henry Pettie to have been also the father of David.
I am wondering if there is some way of searching kirk sessions to see if the name of the father was listed.

David was born at 60 Logie Street Dundee. His Grandparents were Alexander Gibson Gardner Agnes Milne Doig.

Any information would be appreciated.
