My ancestor married at St Martins in the Field in 1846, his residence was College St. A son was born in 1849, his residence was then 3 Great Tufton St. occupation Mason. The family of 3 surviving sons Husband and Wife moved to Australia in 1854 as assisted migrants. He was then variously a Mason, Builder and Farmer in Sydney Australia until his death of Consumption in 1869.
What was his likely employment at this time in Westminster, I am working on the hypothesis that this could have been a time of construction on the House of Parliament or some other State Building, and that tradesman lived near to construction sites. By todays property values it is an unlikely area of residence for a tradesman the son of a Pinmaker from St Catherines Gloucester.
Google Earth has a nearby residence listed as the home of Lawrence Of Arabia, not a likely neighbour of a tradesman.
