Europe / German Newspaper Archives 1943
« on: Monday 20 January 20 21:13 GMT (UK)  »
Hello,

I'm trying to find out if there are any German newspaper archives online? I'm researching my cousins B-17F and his crew that were shot down over Munderloh, nr. Oldenburgh 25 June 1943. According to the official investigation report, dated 3 May 1946, there seems to have been a lot of local publicity regarding the crash. Hopefully the 'locals' still published?

London and Middlesex / Pubs bombed during WWII - Homerton High Street
« on: Sunday 01 November 15 21:34 GMT (UK)  »
Trying to find out if the 'Adam & Eve' ph at 155 Homerton High Street E9 is the original ph that sustained bombed damage and casualties during WWII

My late gran told me of the time when she worked at Hackney Hospital and when she and her friends got dolled up and went out to go and have a drink at the Adam & Eve. Cos it was so busy and overcrowded they went somewhere else. The follow day when she went back into work she'd been told how close to death she come. The pub had been hit and subsequently many people had lost their lives.

Lanarkshire / Local Cemetery for 3 Addresses in Lanarkshire
« on: Tuesday 27 October 15 05:04 GMT (UK)  »
I need to locate 4 family burials (I'm reliably informed there were no cremations before 1965) in Glasgow. I have all details, but just need to find the local cemeteries. The addresses are: 303 Kilmarnock Road (deaths 1918 & 1921), 32 Craigie Street (death 1915) and finally 3 Belleisle Street (death 1946). Thank you

World War One / L/Cpl's reverting back to Pte's
« on: Wednesday 21 October 15 00:58 BST (UK)  »
Hi, I have some WWI grt uncles who were L/Cpl's but at some later stage would 'revert' back to Pte's 'at own request'. Their records don't give a reason, but is there anyone out there who might be able to enlighten me a little more. Was it that they didn't want a huge responsibility for what the rank carries? or somethink else?
