Handwriting Deciphering & Recognition / Help to determine Regiment
« on: Sunday 06 July 14 08:56 BST (UK)  »
I have just been given this photo of my great-great grandfather. Can someone possibly tell me what WW1 Regiment he was in? I am unable to clearly see the insignia on his cap. Many thanks

I've just found this early school photo of mother  ... believe it was taken during WWI period. Mother 3rd from left on back row.

Can anyone date more precisely? Can send scan of the back of the "post-card" if necessary.

Please take out the creases & make things a little clearer, if possible. It's in such bad shape, I don't think anything more is possible.

Thanks everyone
Ann

G'morning everyone,

Please don't tire out your eyes if nothing can be done ... ink was evidently running very low when this scan was sent to me by mail   ::)

Just tell me it's a lost cause, I'll understand

Sorry for the "cut-off" version of Kate.    :-[    it's all we have left!

But I know that this can easily be fixed by your expert hands.

Just adore her hair! Isn't she just the perfect old "Victorian" lady  :D

Thank you, everyone

Free Photo Restoration & Date Old Photographs / Poor quality scan begging for help
« on: Saturday 01 August 09 17:18 BST (UK)  »
Please everyone, DON'T waste your time if nothing can be done ...

I found this image in an old book on Newton Heath & already the original was in very bad condition ... scanning has not improved matters. Can anything be done to make the scene cleaner & sharper? If not, don't worry!

The old family home from the mid-1880's thru' to sometime in the mid-1900's is next to the church ... the Manor Inn mentioned (across the road) came into the family later on thru' marriage ...

I never believed that I would stumble on such a document ... have been gazing at it ever since it arrived this morning ... going dotty in my old age  ;D

Good weekend to you all

Can anything be done for Elizabeth?

Give her some light? some colour? sepia?

It's the only copy I possess ... I apologise for the quality. It's a scan of a photo of her portrait. Elizabeth lived from 1716 to 1763 & is my x5 grandmother.

Please don't tire your eyes or waste your time if the task is impossible.

Thanks for taking a look

Lancashire / COMPLETED Looking for the Mycock family
« on: Monday 13 July 09 20:53 BST (UK)  »
Arthur G. Mycock married Beatrice Taylor in 1916 in Newton Heath.
Beatrice was one of my grandfather's sisters and only recently came to light.
Grandfather migrated to Australia in 1913 and all family contact was lost!

Is anyone out there related to Beatrice or Arthur ...  does anyone have any information after 1916? ... can anyone help me ???

Thanks
Ann
