I wondered if anyone had access to the St Marys, Islington parish records for baptisms c1800 as I have not been able to locate them - they are not on IGI or the Ancestry London Parish Records collection and I have not been able to find them online elsewhere.

Nancy Rawlings married Weldon Champneys at St Marys on 16th March 1823 and was buried there on 15th September 1828, apparently aged 28, having had one daughter, Amelia Lavinia Champneys also baptised at St Marys in 1825.  I am guessing that Nancy may well have been christened there too, hence my interest.

Any help gratefully received.

I have traced back to William Crouch and Sarah Roberson who married at Northwood, Cowes, IOW on 26th December 1769 per IGI - their first child was baptised on the anniversery two years later.  IGI do not seem to carry the baptism records, though there are some earlier marriage records for the surname Crouch back as far as 1653 at Cowes.

Hence I am wondering if anyone has access to these baptism records for either William Crouch or Sarah Roberson - probably looking at the 1745-50 period or thereabouts.

Grateful thanks for any assistance.

Surrey Lookup Requests / St Mary's Putney - Gravestone transcripts?
« on: Monday 21 September 09 23:02 BST (UK)  »
A large number of my relations - Denslows, Kirks and Howells - were buried at St Mary's, Putney, mainly 1850-1900.  I was therefore very disappointed to find that the churchyard has disappeared, mainly below the extension to the church and some is grassed over.  There are a few gravestones incorporated into the path and steps, but none relevant to my family.  I wondered if, when the churchyard was cleared, if there was any record kept of the wording of the tomb stones as this would be very interesting.  Bit of a longshot this, but any information gratefully received.

Thanks

Brett

I wondered if anyone had access to these records.  I have picked up a baptism on Familysearch for Weldon Champneys, parents John Weldon Champneys and Martha Merriman, baptism 13 September 1809.  Birth stated as 9 September 1803.  This is one of those Familysearch records which has been extracted from a Latter Day Saints member's tree so can only be regarded as unconfirmed.  If anyone can confirm that this is a correct entry I would be very grateful.

Many thanks.

I wondered if anyone had access to these parish records.  IGI shows the marriage of Weldon Champneys (or Champness) to Sarah Taylor on 25th January 1829.  I am very interested in additional details such as state of each of them single, widower etc, witnesses and the person performing the ceremony as a number of the Champneys were in the church.

I would be very grateful for any help here.  Thanks.

Somerset Lookup Requests / George EDINGTON (1713) Catcott
« on: Wednesday 09 September 09 09:58 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone had access to the Catcott and/or Edington records - the places are very close.  The information I have on George Edington is that he was baptised around 1713 and married to Tamazine (I think!) around 1735.  It seems there were a lot of Edingtons in Catcott and Edington in the 1600s and 1700s.  The basic information I have so far is from IGI, submitted by an LDS member and is scant plus when its from people's trees it can be a bit flakey.  So any assistance welcomed.

Thanks

Wiltshire Lookup Requests / Ansty Marriage - John SHUTE/Mary c1770
« on: Thursday 27 August 09 16:01 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone had access to the Anstry parish records.  Marriages are supposed to be on IGI from 1764 to 1838, but the batch only seems to contain those from 1802 onwards.  I have picked up 5 children from this marriage on IGI, the first born in 1770, all in Ansty so I imagine the marriage would be about that time.  Of course, the marriage could have been in another parish, but I have not managed to find anything on a wider search.  Any help much appreciated!

Somerset Completed Lookup Requests / Whitelackington Esther/Hester MEECH b 1815
« on: Wednesday 26 August 09 14:30 BST (UK)  »
I wondered if anyone had access to the Whitelackington parish registers as I have some conflicting information from IGI on this lady.  In a couple of the records submitted by LDS members she is shown as Esther Meech b 1815 Whitlackington, but on another one we have Hester Meech, christened 16 MAY 1819 Whitelackington, also from an LDS member rather than transcribed from parish records.  The Esther references are definitely the person I am after, as the family connections shown are correct, but the fact that she does appear as Hester in subsequent censuses and the specific christening date makes me think this is more likely the correct record.  Any help gratefully received!  Thanks.

Hampshire & IOW Lookup Requests / Portsea Marriage Howell/Hallowood 1840
« on: Tuesday 25 August 09 16:08 BST (UK)  »
This marriage between John Howell and Charlotte Hallowood took place at St Marys, Portsmouth on 25th October 1840.  It appears on FreeBMD and also on IGI where Charlotte's surname is shown as Hollowood.  I wondered if anyone had access to the parish register to see if there is more information - parents names, place of origin, age, witnesses or whatever.  Any help gratefully appreciated.  I am mainly trying to get more on Charlotte, but I am also hoping to validate that I have the right John who appears to have been married up to three times.
