Cheshire / Chester Marriage Bonds

Hi All

I have found my ancestor's marriage bond in Chester Marriage Bonds although they both lived in Lancashire and actually says so on the bond. This may sound a very stupid question but does this mean they married in Cheshire for some unknown reason. As far as I am aware they have no connection with Cheshire.

Northumberland / William Meredith - Cowpen

Hi

I am looking for information on William Meredith from Cowpen. I believe that sometime after WW1 the villagers of Cowpen presented William with a gold watch in appreciation of his courage in the war. He fought with the Tyneside Irish in France. He was awarded the DCM and the MM.

Any information would be much appreciated.

London and Middlesex / Kings Court Hotel death 1947

Hello

I have just received my GGrandfather's death cert and after taking a punt on it being the wrong one I discover it isn't. Edward Meredith died in the King's Court Hotel Leinster Gardens London on 4th May 1947. Whilst you may think this is not unusual I am amazed that a coal miner from Lancashire would go to London, presumably alone, when money was very scarce and I would like to learn more if possible.

My question is, does anyone out there have any information about the hotel and does anyone know if there was anything going on in London in May 1947. I have looked for newspapers online but have come a cropper. He had no family that I can trace in the south. So it is a mystery to me.

Canada / Death date for Alice Wilcock

Hi

Could someone kindly check out the death of my ancestor Alice Wilcocks or Wilcox nee Meredith. She was born in England (Atherton, Lancashire to be precise) in 1901. Her husband was James also from England. I'm sorry I don't know where in Canada she lived but she departed from Halifax, Nova Scotia on a visit to England in 1949 if that helps.

Can anyone help with Mary Stayley from Halkyn. She married my ancestor Dean Harding in 1753 in Chester, however her son Dean was born in Halkyn in 1756. After that I don't seem to have anything. I wonder if she died in Halkyn.

Looking for the translation on birth records which looks like Calearij as father's occupation. Has anyone any ideas. I have tried putting it in Google & various but haven't come up with anything. Wouldn't be surprised if it was a 'cooper'.

Hello

I am looking for the marriage record of the gentleman above.

Dane Harding (misspelt Dane)
Marriage Date:
17 Jun 1833
Middlewich, Cheshire, England
Spouse: Mary Heath

I need to know if Deane was a widower or bachelor.

If anyone is going to the records office could they have a look for me, it would be much appreciated. I don't know if he was married twice or the lady in question is his father's second wife (also called Deane).
