Montgomeryshire / NORTHWOOD & SMITH families
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 23:54 BST (UK)  »

 :)

Searching for any information please on the Northwood and Smith families.

So far, I know only that  FRANCIS NORTHWOOD  of District Newtown, Montgomeryshire,  had a son:

FRANK NORTHWOOD SMITH, who may have been born on 15 July, 1878

FRANCIS NORTHWOOD, his mother, may have been born on 3 March, 1858?

I don't yet know who Frank's father was, or if he and Francis Northwood were married?

Frank Northwood Smith, married  VANDA MAY BOUGHEY, but again, I don't know when, or where?

Vanda May Boughey's birthday may have been 11 may, 1906?   ???

She and Frank later divorced, again, I don't know when, or where?

Any info will be much appreciated.

Cheers

Lancashire Lookup Requests / LIPTROT & SMITH FAMILIES
« on: Saturday 22 August 09 23:33 BST (UK)  »

 :)

I'm searching please for any info on the LIPTROT and the SMITH families of Birkenhead, Wallasey, Moreton and possibly Lancashire?   ???

So far, I know that:

WALTER LIPTROT   married   MARIAN SMITH on 3 February, 1923

He was age 32 and she, age 29.  He a Bachelor, she a Spinster.
They married at the Register Office, Birkenhead on

3 February, 1923

At the time of their marriage, Walter was a Joiner Foreman, and Marian an Health Visitor.  He was living at 12 Silverburn Ave, Moreton and she at 5 Marine Terrace, Wallasey, and in later life, they lived at 69 Seafield Avenue, Great Crosby.

I don't yet know Walter, or Marian's date of births, or their death dates?  ???

Walter's father who was deceased at the time of the marriage, was:

RICHARD LIPTROT, was a Licensed Victualler, and I have reason to believe that he was the Landlord of the Magazine Pub, Magazine Lane, Wallasey.

Marian's father, also deceased at the time of their marriage, was:

HENRY  SMITH,  a Butcher on a Steamship.

Any info will be most welcome!   :D

Europe / Norway: MOE family
« on: Monday 25 May 09 11:57 BST (UK)  »
 :)

Hello

Seeking help in tracing my family, in Norway.   ???

Bernt Christian MOE, married Marthe ?.  I know Bernt and Marthe came from opposite ends of Norway, one from the 'south' and one, from the 'north'.   :o  they may have been born in the late 1850's, or 1860's?

When Marthe was a late teenager, she worked as an 'au pair' in Chicago, for a wealthy American family.

Sometime after her return to Norway, she and Bernt met and married, and emigrated to Southern Africa, as missionaries in the Lutheran Church.  This may have been round about the late 1880's or 1890's.    ;)

Have no details of their voyage, but according to family folklore, they probably disembarked at the Tugela River, in Zululand, or another river in Zululand, where they trekked overland to Swaziland.    8)

Would appreciate any info at all on this family, especially from where in Norway they originated, and their dates of births, marriage, voyage details etc.?   ???

Cheers
